Joan Guzman-Ali Funeka II, March 27th!

It seems like the fight will take place after all. Joan Guzman confirmed to a local newspaper in the Dominican Republic. Seems like we will have to Dominican's fighting for a belt on the same night! Victor Mermelada vs Marcos Maidana/ Guzman vs Funeka II. Sounds good to me.

Anyway, here is the source in spanish:

Well, all I have to say is that it's going to be a tough fight but I believe Guzman will be smarter this time and box a WHOLE LOT more and brawl A LOT LESS! If he does this he might just pull it off!

Guzman can beat Funeka by being more elusive and box smart..but he's afraid of not impressing the Media and the fans..that's why he resorted to brawling..even then I was very impressed with Guzman..so I hope he fights smarter the 2nd time around and comes out with the victory..

Funeka deserves the lion's share of the purse which I presume the purse bid has helped him out with that hasn't it?

not this again, Funeka has to beat his ass twice just to have a W on his record

He needs to forget about brawling and just focus on frustrating Funeka by making him miss. He can brawl in the future with easier opponents. He needs to go back to his ways of fighting. Now is not the time to try be a tough man. He can try brawiling around the 10th round if he has the fight in the bag...that would make sense but not before then.

dunno if guzman still has the wheels and stamina to fight like he did vs soto.
and if he does put his track shoes back on and wins, he'll become another fighter that fighters/promoters wont wanna face and networks wont wanna air.
              quite the conundrum.

I had rewatched the fight a couple days ago and if you watch the first 3 rounds Guzman had it in the bag until he got headbutted. On top of that he had his nose busted and that thru him all off. I think he can still win it, that is if Funeka doesnt bust his **** up again.

Guzman can win if he can avoid getting all busted up.

It looked like Funeka broke his nose, and I think that restricted his breathing and this movement and speed considerably.

Funeka could have won anywhere from 8-10 rounds of that 1st fight but Guzman showed alot of heart and also does so by taking a fight with a guy who beat the **** out of him last time they met.
