Why is it that the trend seems to be that Pacquiao fans actually believe hes the real deal?

I haven't noticed such a trend. Can you post some examples?

He is a pretty exciting fighter, so I can understand why Pacquiao fans might appreciate Valero. I wouldn't say Pacquiao fans are any more enthusiastic about him than anyone else though. Not from what I've seen. I'm a huge Pacquiao fan and I've only just started to warm to Valero since he's starting to prove himself. A few more fights against decent competition would probably convince me he is the real deal.

I think he can very well hang with the elite fighters.

Just remember, about a year ago everyone was saying that Bradley was all hype.

Let most tell it, he is the truth now.

Unfortunately that's the attitude of a lot of "boxing fans" these days. Way too much focus on undefeated records, PPV figures, etc. I have no clue how it turned out like this, though, especially when the guy who most people consider the GOAT had 19 losses.

I honestly cannot believe in undefeated fighters...sometimes. If they didn't lose, it means they haven't fought enough good competition or challenges, and or ducked them. A fighter with a loss and comes back shows a lot more than a fighter whose undefeated by slipping by. I'll give credit to Valero because he doesn't care who he fights, he just wants attention and the best names. He's most likely bound to lose soon and I can deal with that if he loses against a top fighter, no problem. But then you got JuanMa who I feel he wants to fight the best, but his promoter might want to preserve him due to lack of big name PR fighters out ATM with Cotto gone this year. Calzaghe and Fraud are both good examples of bad undefeated fighters, but Calzaghe did face a lot of names the public demanded of him, even if some were waaaayy too late.

He definitely made bad decisions with his career though, the biggest mistake being that he stuck with Frank Warren for far too long. I didn't actually care about the undefeated record, however. I just like watching his unorthodox style and how it messed with opponents' heads.

Again, I agree with you. Undefeated = overrated and protected, most likely.

Well it sorta puts things in people's minds that shouldn't be. Calzaghe undefeated and aggressive fighter who throws a lot of punches a round. The total complete opposite of Floyd, but he was undefeated also. Does that make him the best offensive fighter ever then? No. Floyd, turtles up, picks his spots, and now become a 1 punch fighter and he's undefeated. Does that make him the best defensive fighter ever because he hasn't loss yet? No. It gives misconceptions.

I'd like to see how he does in a losing effort first, before i give judgement.

That being said, he is as real as he has shown himself to be, no elite yet (unproven, based on resume), but no slouch either.

Many fighters have potential, that doesnt mean they fullfill that potential. He hasnt fought anyone of note yet. And therefore he is overrated at this stage.

His KO record blinds people to all his obvious flaws IMO.
