Hey Manny pic, whats with the Grant avatar? Is that ur saying that the Grant gloves will play a part in Tito losing this fight? By the way, Tito by KO in 8 rounds.
that's Winky Wright's boxing gloves brand. Winky by UD or stoppage!
Castillo defintely deserves a rematch! What I don't agree with is on how people focuses too much on the ref's stoppage and the ****in mouthpiece! Frietas did that mouthpiece ****, but Corrales beat him!
Castillo jest couldn't finish up Corrales PERIOD! He got a hurt man in front of him and he shoulda done what he shoulda!
I think what peeps are fighting is all the chances chico got or made for himself.the fight was won by chico no doubt but they want a rematch cause a lot of things were left unclear.Who is the best lightweight? I think chico had enough and doesnt want to see castillo anymore.
Last Saturday night, Corrales was the best lightweight. I think that was made pretty clear when Castillo was out on his feet against the ropes and catching bombs with his cranium. On another night, if the moon is in a different phase, blah, blah, Castillo might've been the best. The competition is so close at that level that on any given night you can flip a coin and be as successful at picking a winner as someone like me who's been following the sport for over 30 years. Sure my pick was correct last weekend, but that was as much luck as anything else. These two guys are very evenly matched, and no outcome could ever be solidly predicted.

Sure he won but it was because of all the **** he pulled, the guy wanted to quit since the 8th when he first spit his piece out. No one is gonna let him slide when the fight was in the bag for Castillo and Corrales wins cause he used the system.Imo the fight wouldnt been stopped on the second kd when corrales pulled his mouth piece out with his hand MEANING I quit, I cant take it anymore. Any other ref stops it then and there. We really need to see who the best lightweight is cause this didnt prove ****. Before Corrales was a 60% to 40% to win this fight.I think it will be the other way around in the rematch. If corrales has the balls to give Castillo a rematch.
I'm still unclear what you guys mean by "all the **** he pulled", or that "Weeks gave him lots of chances". His mouthpiece got knocked out once, and he took it out and dropped it once, and was penalized a point for the latter. He was also knocked down twice, easily beat the count both times, and appeared fairly clear-headed both times. The roughly 20 seconds he gained the second time while Weeks was taking away a point, and getting his mouthpiece put back in, probably helped, but would you have preferred he not lose the point? I think it was justified, personally. He didn't spit it out deliberately, but he did take it out....to get more air and dropped it, and didn't want to miss the count trying to pick it up and put it back in, he said....understandable, and I've seen many fighters do the same over the years without being penalized a point, and nothing was ever said about it. Hell, I've seen 'em spit their mouthpieces across the ring, or even into the crowd, without losing a point. What's the big deal here? Castillo came back in too aggressive after the second knockdown, hoping to catch Corrales and got caught himself instead. The stoppage wasn't early, Weeks did the right thing, and the entire mess should just be dropped completely.
And I don't want a rematch. One fight like that per lifetime is enough for any fighter. I don't want to see either of these guys punchdrunk in another 4 years. I'll cherish the fight they gave me from now on, but I don't want to see them do it again. Too risky. Their styles make for great action, but unfortunately it's too damaging to both fighters for it to happen more than once. Castillo should either fight for the vacated belt (if that happens when Corrales moves up), or wait a year or so after both are completely healed and then quietly enter talks with Team Corrales about a rematch (against my better judgement).
P.S.
Speaking of mouthpieces being spit into the crowd....does anyone have that Foreman fight where he knocked the guy's mouthpiece halfway across the arena with that uppercut? That was hillarious, and I don't have that particular fight, but would like to.

awesome post doo! Castillo had him, he had him. He just came overconfident and overaggressive and he got caught. Couldn't close the show!

Sorry man but I disagree that the mouth piece was knocked out by punches. The first time Corrales spit it out was in the 8 th round. I find it hard to drop a mouth piece to the ground using no other force than your mouth getting hit by an uppercut. Point is he dropped it purposly and I call that all the **** he pulled not once or twice. Castillo was getting hit the whole with power shots and did you see a mouth piece fly out?Corrales used the system to get more rest than usuall. That I know of dropping your mouth piece because you cant hack it anymore is not a part of boxing. All Corrales proved is that he will be a little ***** if thats what it takes to win. About the rematch,Castillo is dying to get back in there with Corrales and I hope they do it again just like every boxing fan out there.
I will say the outcome is not a sure thing for Castillo cause who knows this time Corrales pulls a victory off with no controversy. The rematch is still anyones fight but I think Castillo feels he needs to redeem himself cause he felt cheated.
A mouthpiece falling out is a sure sign that the fighter got stunned by a punch. The first time the mouthpiece came out in this fight, it was caused by a punch. Granted, he took it out the second time, but not the first. They were in the ****, the mouthpiece came out, and they fought on for several more seconds before the action lulled and Weeks called time and replaced the mouthpiece. The second time he probably did take it out to buy a little more time...he says otherwise, but it's hard to believe that's the case...at any rate, he paid for that with a point, but it wasn't nearly as blatant a display as I've ever seen, and like I said....Weeks took a point, no warnings, and that should be the end of that.
And there probably will be a rematch eventually. I think it's a mistake, but there'll most likely be enough of a public "outcry" that one will eventually take place. When it does, I look for one of these guys to retire afterwards...a pair of fights like that during a career will just about use a fighter up. Look at Mickey Ward. After his last bout with Gatti, he was ****ing done.

if a rematch would push through, and if the fight would be as brutal as the first one, one fighter would definitely retire
the people that say that it was a premature stoppage dont know boxing at all.
I agree, Castillo would have been out anyway, he was just laying there, out on his feet, getting hammered, nothing differently would've happened if they wouldn't have stopped it, he would have got the KO instead of the TKO.
