    Newflash: What The Hell

    NEWS FLASH
    WBC to review Corrales-Castillo!
Citing "furor" about the Diego Corrales-Jose Luis Castillo clash, the WBC is naming a committee to review the fight. A WBC press release states, "There have been many protests from most of the press in Mexico and Latin America, as well as the Federal Boxing Commission in regards to the performance of the referee, who, among other things, let approximately 40 seconds go from the moment of the second knockdown to the continuing of the action in the tenth round....The lightweight championship of the world was held under the trademark of the WBC, and is our obligation to respond to all matters that receive a request, and we think that there was something that was done wrong. It is our obligation to those who trust the WBC's impartiality, rules, and actions."Corrales promoter Gary Shaw was outraged by the WBC's announcement and stated, "I will be naming my own committee to review the WBC committee, including the true reason of its genesis, its true purpose and its final findings."

well the stoppage wa sok...the thing was Corrales getting 30seconds in between KD's that was BS,i wouldnt mind seeing a rematch and think castillo deserves it. Whya re people suck against a rematchh,f**k where no saying corrales didnt win fair but with the **** corrales pulled to "not get KTFO" why not give the man a rematch.(?)

Exactly Castillo had his guard down and was completely out of it.

Brooklyn-I would hope majority rules towards my opinion because safety is first and Castillo was out of it and couldnt protect himself. Just because people want to see a fight continue doesnt give a ref a reason to let a fight continue. Safety is more important then fans being satisfied.

I agree a rematch would be a good idea.

Noone disputes the fact though Freitas pulled the mouthpiece trick and got way more time to recover...Perhaps that is because he got KTFO.

i agree with the stoppage but thats not whats being argued, its the amount of time taken in between the second knockdown and the fights continuation. imo it was far too much time allowed for corales to recover as a result of corrales spitting out his mouthpeice. but the ref did the right thing in taking a point from corrales. this could be good news though, the wbc could order an immediate rematch.

Mexicans control too much boxing, poor Chico, next time he should just bomb Castillos ass on the outside.

It was Goosens fault he was trying to coach corrales, action was taken and a point was deducted. Besides Castillo just had plenty of time to recover and wasnt knocked down either.

It seems that the Mexican and latin press would have prefered to see Castillo get killed that night...
