Edwin Valero "I don't like Mayweather's style, respectfully" (but now he does)

A while back before the Pacquiao vs De La Hoya fight, Valero was interviewed about who he thinks will win. He said Oscar was not even training and that he (Valero) was beating up Oscar so bad in sparring, he was laughing, and said he was thrown out of camp for giving Oscar a beating. He predicted Pacquiao would KO Oscar. In that same Interview, somehow Mayweather's name was mentioned and Valero said (while imitating the shoulder roll), "I don't like that, I like to fight" (while making a fist). He did say Floyd is an amazing fighter.

It seems Valero changed his mind about Floyd's style after seeing him dominate Marquez so easily, the man who the majority thought out-boxed Pacquiao x2, because during the Valero vs DeMarco fight we saw Valero doing his best Floyd impression at times. I thought it was very cool to see that! After the fight Valero said, "I learned a lesson in this fight, I can't just come forward and throw, I must pace myself". In short, the lesson he learned was to be more like Floyd using movement and rolling punches, etc. It was impressive to see how humble Valero was and how he's improving and changing his style during fights.

I was thinking about this and feel his 100% KO ratio is coming at an end after his next fight. I think we're going to see a very slick Valero dominate his next opponent from round 1. If he does get a KO, I will bet the over rounds, because I think Valero "the boxer" has just matured a lot.

Valero has a Pacquiao style not a Mayweather style.

      His offense IS his defense.

      Valero-DeMarco = Pacquiao-De La Hoya.

Everything was there, the height difference, the performance, the quitting on the stool.

Even some of the commentators were saying how Valero looked like a mix of the old and current Manny Pacquiao.

I felt the same way about Martinez and Bradley.

          They were relative unknowns.

Now they're overrated as hell on these boards.

            acculades to valero.
man this guy showed he can think in the ring.
so what if his ko ratio goes down. he's finaly stepping it up and fighting top tier.
not totaly sold on edwin but almost there.

felt demarco and his corner throwing in the towel was a smart move.
demarco was so far behind on cards a ko was the only way and tony didnt have it in him to do so without eating more knuckle sandwiches.

What's wrong with people jumping on the Valero bandwagon? Only problem I have is some of the guys with Valero sigs who were insulting him just a week ago.

I have followed Valero for a long time. I put a nice chunk of money on him, ignoring everyone who claimed DeMarco could outbox him. I saw Valero toy with Morales and Barrera. I heard the story from his own mouth how he dominated Oscar. He fights wild because he wants to put on a show. Against DeMarco, it was the first time in his career that he realized he can't do this. He dug in his "Floyd Mayweather Jr." toolbag and started to fight slick and rolling punches. It was a learning lesson for him, but I knew he had it all along!

Valero is the kind of guy who only fights smart when needed, but he can do it. The commentators were acting as if they were shocked by how good Valero was performing, claiming it didn't show up in the tapes. If they really did their job properly, they would have seen some of his gym wars against the former elites, such as Barrera and Morales, toying with them using his boxing skills.

                I don't care about KO's, because I'm a boxing fan, not a KO fan.

                  Valero is nothing like Mayweather.

If 93 punches per round is pacing himself, then I want to see when he doesn't.
