I wouldn't blame Vargas. He isn't where he needs to be right now. Before he begins fighting top guys, he has a lot of work to do. He's changed trainers his last few fights. He needs to find himself before he starts taking on top opposition.

I'd like to add, I am no Vargas nut hugger but I really do agree with some other previous posters that he wants to do it right this time around. He looks vulnerable but he isn't as bad as everyone says he is. He's trying to box and work on his skills and ring generalship. Yea, he gets hit by shots he shouldn't have, but either way, he shouldn't be faulted for trying to get a few tuneup fights.

Vargas still has less than 30 fights in his professional resume. He knows he's not ready for another power puncher.

Why would he fight for a 75/25 split when Mayorga isn't even a champion???
Plus he is just as big a star as Mayorga is. I think Mayorga is being a ***** for trying price himself out.

I agree...vargas is the bigger star, he can fill any stadium...mayorga will be filled by the train that awaits him in prison

Haters...naw, realistic yes. Your brining up Yori Boy? Thats like me saying Mayo was on top of the world when he KOed Forrest who was said to be P4P the best after beating Mosley twice. DLH is not a power puncher and he knocked out Vargas...but that was all then, this is now. And Vargas doesn't have the goods, even a prime Vargas would have trouble with Mayo's aggression.
I take nothing away from what Vargas accomplished, but he was rushed into fights he shouldn't have taken just like now he shouldn't take the Mayo fight.
If you wanna give that "macho" I am bad ass boxer personality, like both Mayo and Vargas due then yes Crying in front of the HBO cammera is weak. So is taking roids but that should be a whole other thread.
