I dont think it was in effect, but i believe what most people are referring to in regards to this fight is if u get knocked back and the ropes hold u up u score it a KD and do the count because he would have gone down had the ropes not been there.

As opposed to the standing 8 count which is when u get stunned on ur feet u get counted no matter if it was in the center of the ring and u didnt go down.

rarely do refs stop a guy from punishing the other guy when hes stuck against the ropes UNLESS hes fallen under the first rope

I wanted Castillo to win but he was done. He was getting hit with bombs and not throwing the back, the ref did the right thing.

A standing 8 count would of made no difference in the stoppage. Castillo was out on his feet, his eyes were going to the back of his head, his body was limp, he was not punching back, he was not defending himself and "both of his hands were down to his side". The ref made the correct call, anyone who thinks otherwise must have wanted Castillo to get killed.

Once Castillo's head flew back and both of his hands fell to his side, the ref stopped the fight before Corrales could of landed another flush power filled blow to a fighter who would was so hurt that he could not even keep his hands up or move away from the shot.

Absolutely correct Rick, and may I add that it was the single best finish to a fight that I have ever seen! Talk about a "Rocky" movie in real life - WOW - INCREDIBLE FIGHT!! Bravo Corrales & Castillo !!

i can't believe some people are asking for an 8 count. isn't this a unification bout? fight stoppage are up to the refs decision and when he handed it out on the castillo-corrales fight, it was of great prudence.

castillo's head was ****in' back n' forth without defense, it seems like for a second or two, in that particular scene, he was already unconscious and further concussions can be career-ending, the least

There was no 8 count allowed by the rules plus I think it was a great stoppage by the ref. Castillo will always want to continue as long as he is conscious; he was senseless and could only be hurt worse if it was allowed to continue.
