1. Clottey's defense (arm block) was useless against Margarito's constant attack. Especially in the later rounds.
2. Clottey is not a hard hitter. He's just not. I think he has the same punching power with Floyd.
3. Like Cotto, he stays in front of you. He doesn't move.
4. He's got the hand speed but he also can't hit moving opponents. Clottey vs. Judah early rounds.
5. He's not a K.O. artist. I'm not sure how far can he take the fight.
Styles make fights. Pacquiao vs. Mosley would have been super. (sigh) Wishful thinking.

Mayweather's decision
The question still remains, will Mayweather steps up to the challenge? Looks like he has nowhere to go. But knowing Mayweather, his silence on the Mosley-Berto cancellation could mean another excuse is being cooked, or the press release is being prepared. I hope Mayweather prove us wrong this time...

The key to this fight is not Pac's speed, power, size, or any of that stuff. It is the style of Clottey that can win or lose this fight.
He has what may be the perfect style to beat Pac. First point: You need to be able to trade with Pac to win. You have to be able to do it and win as many of the exchanges as you lose. Marquez won more exchanges but in a few got dropped which made it close. Morales, when he wasn't a dead man walking also won most of the exchanges. Two: You need to be able to defend yourself or take a good punch.
Clottey has both of these points. He is actually a pressure fighter. Most may not think of him as one, but his style is to walk you down, block everything and then counter punch and stay on you. He wears you down with his defence an then counter punches.
Pac doesn't to too well against counter punchers because he leaves himself open. Clottey doesn't punch enough sometimes, which is the biggest way he will lose this fight and the most likely way he will lose it, but, he has very good defence and a great chin when he does get hit. If he can counter punch and get off enough, he will give Pac a lot more problems than most realise.

His defence was particularly effective against Margarito. He hurt his left hand badly in the fourth round, up to which point he had dominated the fight with that defence and counter punching off it, and then hurt his right hand in the sixth. Really though, that's beside the point. Margarito is nearly six foot tall and is a non stop punching pressure fighter. He averages nearly one hundred punches a round. Pac averages about 60 or so and isn't a pressure fighter. They are so different as to be completely incomparable.
The Judah fight: All Clottey wanted to do was stay on Judah for the first three or four rounds. His whole plan was simply to keep on Judah and try not to lose all of those rounds. Judah generally wins the first four or so rounds in all of his fights. He split them with Clottey and then Clottey took over, which was his exact game plan. He willingly gave away the first few rounds, first to see what Judah had and second to push him back and walk him down.
If you're using those fights your blueprint, you're looking at them the wrong way because they were good, and bad (in the case of the Marg fight and his hands), fights for him and showed exactly why he is so hard to beat.

I think clottey is tailor made for Pacman.
He doesnt move his head.
He has no stamina.
He doesnt it hard.
He comes str8 foward.
Hes flat footed.
He has a very low workrate.
Struggles to make 147.
Hes also left hand dominant.
I think Clottey is the type of fighter a guy with the speed, power, footwork, chin and workrate Like Pac has can look amazing against.
Clottey wont do enough to win and I think Pac beats him very easy. Its a style mis-match IMO.
