The mayorga fight, i think he just fought the wrong game plan. Shane has a warriors mentality and i believe that before the fight he started with the objective to outbox mayorga, but the competitive nature in both fighters allowed that fight to turn into a brawl. If shane stuck to his training regime that fight he easily outboxes mayorga.
The cotto fight he was outboxed early, and hit with the jab to often to get going, and it wasnt until cotto started tiring that we saw a mosely pick up the pace. I think and i hate to say this, but that night shane just got outboxed by a better fighter.
This fight if it happens which i think it wont, because i dont see floyd really wanting this fight as much come fight night. I think the biggest downfall for shane will be the layoff in between. he was outboxed by cotto when he was a busy fighter and fighting on a more consistent basis. Against margarito i dont think he need an intensive gameplan cause margarito is coming towards you with no defense so he's there to hit. Against mayweather, he's not going to have that many opportunity's to hit him flush, and when he does, hes gonna have to be worried about getting countered.
Its hard to establish a consistent jab against mayweather because of his ring Iq, and his ring savy. He's always moving when he throws a punch and he perfers to counter. I can just see this fight really getting started after shane gets tired of chasing mayweather for a few rounds, or tired of prodding the jab out only to be countered by stiff rights. A few boo's begin to echo in the crowd and then mosely starts to attack with a sense of reckless abandonment that forces mayweather to either exchange or go on the defensive.
Im surprised that mayweather took this fight because im one of the few that believes that this is a harder fight for him than Pacquiao. If he goes through with this, because i know Shane wants this fight , then there should be no more barking about how mayweather doesnt fight legitimate WW's or he's bigger than most his opponents cause shane is actually a bit bigger. But as much as i love mayweather, i have a feeling that he's a little more nervous to face mosely "especially with ****m Richardson in his corner" than he's leading on. He loses this fight than there is no Pacquiao vs. Mayweather, no 40-55 million dollar payday looming in the future. Something tells me if it happens, that he's extremely confident about beating shane, cause this is not the risk that Floyd Mayweather usually takes.
