if the test is random then there is a chance one fighter gets tested closer to the fight...

and since its Mayweather's camp that is railheading this unprecedented drug testing for professional boxing then it will most likely be Pacquiao that gets 3 gallons of blood drawn on fight night....

he buys 2 extra pounds against JMM ,,,,

i would not put naything past Mayweather camp

Press Release: The mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is now in jeopardy after Golden Boy Promotions, on behalf of Mayweather Promotions, learned today that Manny Pacquiao is refusing to comply with Olympic style drug testing as outlined and mandated by the United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA) and as requested by Mayweather's management to ensure fair play and sportsmanship by both fighters.

Early today Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, was contacted by Top Rank President Todd duBoef, who informed Schaefer that Pacquiao would not agree to have his blood taken within 30-days of the bout based on the fighter's superstition of testing so close to a fight.

Schaefer commented, "Todd told me that Pacquiao has difficulty with taking blood and doesn't want to do it so close to the fight. He, Pacquiao, would only agree to have blood drawn before the kick-off press conference and after the fight."

Olympic style drug testing involves random sampling of the athlete's blood and urine prior to and after the fight. The USADA procedure includes both blood and urine sampling so that all banned substances, some of which do not show up in urine alone, are tested for thoroughly.

"It is unfortunate to hear this from Manny Pacquiao's representatives, particularly since, as of today, both parties had worked out all other issues related to this fight," said Schaefer. "Team Mayweather is certainly surprised that an elite athlete like Manny Pacquiao would refuse drug testing procedures which Floyd has already agreed to and have been agreed to by many other top athletes such as Lance Armstrong, and Olympians Michael Phelps, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant."

Mayweather, who was informed of Pacquiao's reluctance shortly after Schaefer received word of the impasse, feels Pacquiao has to explain himself immediately or be faced with accusations from the media and the public regarding his own status as a clean and drug free athlete.

"I understand Pacquiao not liking having his blood taken, because frankly I don't know anyone who really does," said Mayweather [Editor's note: did Floyd really say "frankly"?]. "But in a fight of this magnitude, I think it is our responsibility to subject ourselves to sportsmanship at the highest level. I have already agreed to the testing and it is a shame that he is not willing to do the same. It leaves me with great doubt as to the level of fairness I would be facing in the ring that night. I hope that this is either some miscommunication or that Manny will change his mind and step up and allow these tests, which were good enough for all these other great athletes, to be performed by USADA."

Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions said,"We hope that Manny will do the right thing and agree to the testing as it is an egregious act to deny the testing and hence, deny the millions of fans the right to see this amazing fight. We just want to make sure there is a level playing field in a sport that is a man-to-man contest that relies on strength and ability. I still hope this decision is coming from someone in Pacquiao's camp and not Manny himself as it would be a shame that an athlete of his stature and who represents his whole country would not be able to show the public or his fellow athletes that he agrees to the highest standards in sports competition."
Well if Manny would stop resisiting and take the ***in test nobody would have any doubts about him he's making himself look bad by not going through with the blood tests!

If he knows he is getting tested after the fight they can cycle him on and off, it is not the same as random testing which is why so many olympic athletes get caught.

            Just saying~
            agreed.

Its a slap in the face of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. No testing is perfect, not even the Olympic style of testing...but the Nevada State Commission is by far the best at what it does.

But if anyone thinks this fight isn't going to happen, for any reason other than a freak accident. You must be crazy. There is too much money on the table, and the reputation of the sport is on the line.

Book your flights and hotel people. Its going down!
fight's gonna happen, even if arum has to fly back to manila, and coax manny again......

I personally think the best testing systems should have been implemented when Shane Mosley never tested postive but later was implicated with the balco scandal.

Many *******s have said that Mayweather was cheating due to winning in 5 weight classes and being ripped and yet he is willing to do the tests and its the pacman that is shaking like a leaf for having a little blood drawn. I guess a needle is more intimidating than fighting Miguel Cotto?
            good post.

Even so, it's pretty classless of Golden Boy/Mayweather to air out the negotiations in public. I thought they weren't saying anything until all the talk was over.
i applaud them.....maybe they're like me, and just tired of the bull**** "back-and-forth."

they say everything else has already been agreed to, if this is what's keeping the fight from being signed, let it be known, put's pressure on them to sign the contract.

But what Floyd is asking is an even standard. Both fighters will undergo the same exact routine.

And why is it mental? It is only mental if you are actually taking something, if Pac is clean, which I think he is... then he shouldn't even think twice about it.

And it surely isn't reason enough to stop the biggest grossing fight in the history of the sport because you don't want to succumb to tests in which your competitor will also be participating in just the same.

If Manny wishes to ask for something, it needs to benefit both fighters equally just like this does.

i don't think Pac's been using the roids

i think he's just been steadily getting bigger and bigger throughout his career, it's been a slow progression to where he is today, it's not like one day he was all skinny and the next day he's pumped

[QUOTE=tyde13;7045828]like floyd said, for a fight of this magnitude, it's not unreasonable to want to make sure sportsmanship is at its highest caliber....

if floyd was really scared, he wouldn't have signed off on a 50-50 deal to get the fight done, when he really deserves the bigger split.....

its amazing how you *******s can come on here and defend manny for not wanting to be drug tested, and somehow turn this **** into floyd's fault.....

it doesn't show how good floyd thinks pac is, if anything floyd wants to make sure pac is NATURALLY as good as he looks.....i would cut you dudes some slack, if the drug testing thing was a stipulation for pacquiao only, but the fact that mayweather has signed on and agreed to be tested to, puts your argument to rest, and makes pac look bad, no matter how you *******s want to flip **** around.

and i don't get into the whole, "*******" name calling thing, but if ppl are gonna seriously get on here and defend a guy UNWILLING to be drug tested, he is willing. str8 afta

Nice way to dodge the question.

Hearns sparked an extremely tough ATG fighter in Roberto Duran, which is far more impressive than Pacquiao's wins over Hatton and Cotto. I'm unaware of any performance enhancing rumours there?!?!
