Isn't there a rule that if you fall during a count that you're automatically out of the fight? Judah looked to be pretty seriously messed up by that second punch, and got up WAY too fast. He might have made the count if he'd taken more time to get his legs back. If there isn't a rule, I think the ref made a decent call to stop the fight. If you try to get up and your legs go out from under you like that, your brains are pretty scrambled.

No doubt Nadey made the right call.

          Here's an interview with Nadey:

RM: Getting back to the Judah fight, you showed a lot of self control when he put his hands on you. Did it ever cross your mind to defend yourself, what exactly did you think when he grabbed you?

JN: I could look into his eyes and they were very thick and he wasn’t even looking at me, he couldn’t even see me. I knew he couldn’t see me. He didn’t remember doing it. He didn’t know he had been knocked down. I’ve been a referee for thirty three years. He didn’t know he had been knocked down, he had been hurt, he thought I stopped the fight at the end of the round. He was never a threat to me. And a man in that condition who had been stopped, I didn’t think they needed to do anything too severe to the man. His behavior wasn’t acceptable and they have to do something about it because it isn’t the way officials should be treated. My brother was an NFL official, I’ve been a baseball umpire for damn near thirty years. I’ve been in basketball, baseball and football for a lot of years. My family has been involved in officiating for a long time, something obviously had to be done, but I think Zab Judah, is a great fighter, I just didn’t think he knew what happened, and he was confused and disoriented after he got knocked down.

RM: I was at the fight live myself, it looked like he hit his head on the mat, and jumped up too fast, and that’s why he looked wobbly, don’t you think he should have taken a knee for an 8 count, or would you have stopped the fight in either case?

JN: If he stayed down, I could have counted, but when he fell back down the second time, I knew he had a severe concussion and what we call the “second concussion syndrome” is a serious reality, when damage is done the most, we are trained for that. When we see a concussion, we stop the fight. He knows now. When I talked to him at the hearing in Reno, he told me, he was glad I stopped it, I may have saved him. If they have another fight, he wasn’t exposed as a bad fighter, he has an excuse to go on , if he needs one, but he doesn’t. He is a great fighter, and a great young man. He comes from a good stock, he will get past this.

If there is a rematch it should be at Lt Welterweight because that is what weight the first fight was at. Judah only went to welterweight after loosing to Tzyu. Tzyu is perfect at Jr Welterweight, and Jr welterweight the strongest division in boxing. If Judah looses to De La Hoya at welterweight maybe then he will come back down to Lt welter, but Tzyu might be retired by then.

Damn I just realize that Tzyu was undisputed Lt welterweight champion but he stripped of all his belts except the IBF after fighting Leigha and before Mitchell, must have been from missing mandatories.

I agree with you but Judah holds the undisputed title, at welter and could mean more money. I don`t think a rematch will happen though!

                Not necessairly.

You don't think Tszyu would like a crack at the unified Welterweight crown agaisnt a guy he already KO'd?

Those titles are a huge incentive for Tszyu to move up.

I think it would be a much closer fight.

Tzyu had the undisputed Lt welterweight title but he vacated all the belts except the IBF to fight Mitchell again. It would be ridiculous also from business standpoint for Tzyu to up to 147 and fight Judah as the challenger considering he already beat Judah. It would be totally unfair because Judah would be guaranteed the majority of the purse being the belt holder. Judah would have to vacate one of the belts and let Tzyu get it for that fight to happen. I cant see any reason why Tzyu should ever agree to fight Judah in a position where he gets less than the majority of the purse.

Plus there is alot of good challengers to be dealt with at in Lt welterweight divison before Tzyu should start thinking about the welterweight division like Mayweather,Cotto,Vivian Harris, Ricky Hatton, Arturo Gatti,Abdulaev and alot of others.

Wow, those were some experienced comments Nady gave. He also paid some gracious respect to Judah. I respect Nady more now than ever.

To top it all off, he's one of those badass Marines too!

The fight your most likely going to see is De La Hoya vs Judah, De La Hoya will win, then I can see Tzyu going up to welterweight to face him and it being fair to accept the minority of the purse, because Tzyu or anybody else for that matter cant get any better fight than fighting De La Hoya. When Judah fights De La Hoya he is going to make a fortune since De La Hoya is the biggest draw in boxing apparently and unless Judah vacates a belt and De La Hoya gets it Judah is guaranteed teh majority of the purse. His promoters really set himself up good.
