It's staggering how the OP can argue that Pacquiao fought "Mayweather leftovers" vs Hatton / De La Hoya, and in the same post use Mayweather-Marquez to support his argument.

News flash. JMM was in his prime at his best weights versus Pacquiao. At the age of 36, he is asked to move up two divisions to fight Mayweather. That's Mayweather eating Pacquiao leftovers. Mayweather Marquez was shameless match making by Team Mayweather to pick an easy-as-possible comeback. They didn't even have the balls to target a junior welterweight, let alone a welterweight. No, let's try and 'shame' Pacquiao by taking on Marquez, who ignorant fans think beat* Pacquiao - who cares that he's a lightweight.

      * Another news flash, try watching the Pacquiao Marquez fights and objectively scoring them. The only people on the nights in question who genuinely thought he was hard done by were his corner, him, and one bent judge who gave Marquez every round after the 2nd in the first fight.

After the his fight with Manny, I honestly feel that Cotto fought with a transmission that had 230,000 miles on it, ready to be junk piled, and came in to the fight against Manny with 1/4 tank of gas. He spent the reserve of oil he had on the Clottey fight.

They kept him in the drag race out of sympathy, cause he was only fighting on exhaust fumes after a while.

He showed potential, but after Manny got done with him, it was clear he was ready for the scrap heap.

I will say, Cotto had a good run while it lasted and, sadly, Margarito may have beaten him in an unfair manner.

He needed to fight Morales 3x because of the money and the legacy. He defeated Barrera in 2003 who went on to become a champion for years. No need to talk about the Marquez fights because it's obvious. Dela Hoya challenged him not the other way around. The next obvious challenge after dela hoya was Hatton. Cotto was top 3, or 2, or 1 depending on how you rate him and is a stable mate, bigger money fight, but still is a top and dangerous welterweight. And these are only the big named guys he fought. There are a lot of low weight fighters who are unknown in the US, but is known in asian countries that were big challenges at the time he fought them. Don't be fooled by other haters opinion who has only known Pacquiao when he stepped on the SFW to WW division. He was already a great and devastating fighter in the lower weights before he even stepped up on these weights. His original monicker, "The Destroyer", was given to him for a reason.

thats because American boxers have more talent than PI or Thai boxers who fills up mannys resume. all of the big names on his resume were shot by the time he fought them.

          the OP is right

He gets loads of credit for beating a Miguel Cotto that was severely beaten and forced to submit (in mma terms: he tapped out) by Antonio Margarito.

Shortly after that fight he was more competitive but nevertheless he caught a beating at the hands of Josh Clottey.

How much credit does Manny Pac really deserve for TKO'ing Miguel Cotto?

We all know De La Hoya was past him prime and weight drained. It was a shocking win for Manny, but again, how much credit does he really deserve?

Out of the three (hatton, dlh, cotto), Ricky Hatton was probably the least faded. And even in that scenario, Hatton was knocked out slightly over a year prior by Mayweather.

Pac is being built into this Ray Robinson-like demi God and I think it's unwarranted.

Mayweather may not be fighting the biggest KILLERS at welterweight, but his last three opponents weren't coming off knockout losses either.

JMM was coming off KO wins over Casamayor and Juan Diaz...
De La Hoya was coming off a career rejuvinating KO of Ricardo Mayorga...
Ricky Hatton was UNDEFEATED at the time he fought Floyd...

In all honesty, Mayweather has fought tougher and FRESHER competition.
I was listening cos u sounded genuine...then you said he caught a beating at the hands of joshua clottey...

            so now i stopped reading...

He had a severe cut, no beating was taken, he was just fighting with little gas in the tank...marg is what u call a beating

The last fresh fighter he fought was Morales 1.

Since then everyone has been shot or old.

The names change but after every big fight which takes out one top guy you see new people on to the forums and claiming they are long time fans of whoever is fighting Floyd next, just to hate on Floyd. You have some who migrated from Hoya's to Hatton's to Marquez and now to Pacquiao nuts just to hate on Floyd.

Who give Manny more credit.. They should get equal credit for beating the same person.

Its Floyd fan that are discrediting Pac fights..

                So STFU

Great Fighters make Good Fighters seems Ordinary after they F@ck them up?! You're just one of those "supposed to be boxing fans" who try to discredit Pacman's achievement by giving your "idiocracy logic." Tell you're boy Floyd to better train his A$$ off because Pac will make him ordinary too after he F@ck him up. I bet all the Pac Haters bet againts him everytime and lost, Bigtime!

Don't know if it's in ALL HONNESTY,but if it is,you are missing some points.

Hatton,DLH and Cotto weren't comin off KO losses when they fought Manny.

Hatton stopped Malignaggi,Cotto took a SD over Clottey,DLH beat Forbes at 150.

"JMM was coming off KO wins over Casamayor and Juan Diaz..."
Well,JMM WAS ESPECIALLY COMIN FROM 135.

Cotto and Hatton were only 1 loss.
Manny get stopped twice in his career.

Cotto get a SD with one eye hurt BECAUSE OF A HEADBUTT!!!

In every of these fights,Manny was fightin bigger men,and thats why he get so much props.
BECAUSE HE WAS FIGHTIN AT 130 1 YEAR BEFORE these 3 great wins.
