With Williams usaully his offense is his defense. He does gets away from punches when he has to but being so offensive minded will leave opennings to get hit especially with Martinez who is so fast and can counterpunch so well. Classic fight for the years end, these two guys would be entertaining to watch against any top fighter around those division

I thought because he fought with his hands down that he would be an easy target for Pwill but obviously that wasn't the case.
About the judge with the outrageous score, I'm wondering if the judge was paid for coming up with that score! Goosen is trying to make AC Pwill main venue and the judge is from NJ. Just sayin.
foul play on Goosen's part because the judge made sure that the fight
was not close at all. In actuality people are screaming on the judge
for foul play but what would motivate him to do it other than being
paid off? He has no real stake in Williams other than getting some
money to do it.

It should of been at least a DRAW
This is Martinez's second fight in a row with BAD judges. I wont say he won but I wont say he lost. The judges NEED to be banned and punished by LAW.
What Max Kellerman did is WHY I like the dude. Judges need to be held accounted for there actions. Its disrespectful to boxing, the greats of our past and it punishes the greats of the future and us boxing fans.

Martinez was and always be a better boxer than Paul. Paul is what is known as "A rock thrower". Little style, huge output, good stamina. So far so good, but in the long run a pyrhic victory. The judges aren't doing him any favor biased or not, his face and body tell a different story. It's like calling a knock down a slip, the fighter doesn't get the benefit of an eight count to recover. It only leads to more punishment.

Thats because the Williams camp, and the majority of his fans on this very message board swore up and down that this was an easy fight for paul. But it wasn't and now they look ******.

The heart display in this fight is why I Love boxing; it is the perfect forum for the Will to be displayed.
I as a fight fan will not let one judge ruin the poetry of the night.
By the way, I had the fight a draw.

119-110?!
the fight was awesome! not for fight of the year, but still one of the best 12 rounds-straight exchanges so far. i think the judges should've had it 114-114, 115-113 williams, 115-113 martinez. split draw.
just one thing that i noticed, and it's only an opinion of mine, is that williams is lacking some power. maybe martinez had a really tough chin (this is the 1st fight that i've seen martinez), but williams landed some clean combos on the later rounds that i thought are enough to at least rock an opponent.
martinez, on the other hand, did great on the early and late rounds. still, he had trouble with william's long jabs (can really help when trying to win the judges), but he had more cleaner power punches, and actually rocked williams many times. but, it also proved that paul williams ain't no chump, he got some great heart and a solid chin (but not as good as martinez's).
overall,
WE WANT MORE!!!

a rock thrower?..loll..you say it as if it were bad...yeah martinez gave him a good fight, but so did paul, that style you say is very dificult, imagine someone just coming at you all 12 rounds, non stop punching,it wears you out...i like that in a fighter,is a big asset, plus his conditioning has to be great to fight like that..that style tires the opponent, doesn't let you think much in the ring because you are constantly going back, don't plant yourself well to throw your punches,,,that is a good style to me

Williams won.......
It was a close fight but P.W. edged S.M. in the last 2rounds with determination and toughness. S.M. made a fan out of me and a rematch should happen at some point in 2010. He's a realistic fighter who gave an honest opinion after. As for P.W., he should fight either STURM or PAVLIK next 4 sure. He deserves and proved a worthy threat to both. PAVLIK would make the most exciting fight right now though. It's a much tougher fight for P.W. than STURM because they both come forward and has great stamina. P.W. just needs to tighten up on defense and he will stop PAVLIK. He showed against S.M. he could make adjustments. He did that simply by slowing down his punch output and realizing that he wasn't just going to outpunch S.M. SUPER FIGHT and great win for P.W.
