I know MMA vs. Boxing threads are redundant. Especially in a forum where there are more fans of one sport than other. There is truly no objective discussion in a situation like this. So I will try to offer my best objective perspective about THIS aspect of the MMA vs. Boxing debate as a hardcore boxing fan.

We've all been in fights (except that one poster who said a street fight was just like an actual boxing match and because of that Floyd would destroy Manny in a street fight). Through out the majority of my life living in Houston, Mid and South Texas, Mexico, I SELDOM ever took part in a one on one street fight. SELDOM. The majority of the STREET fights Ive been in have involved 3 or more people. Why? Because when you're out and about, you're with a group. One dude talks ****, another responds, everyone gets hyped, someone throws a punch and all hell breaks lose. It was like that in school, too. Now, you have to ask yourself. Where are you most likely to be in a street fight?

Once you become of drinking age, the majority of you who actually have a life outside of boxingscene and the internet go out to clubs and bars. Tell me how many one on one situations you've been in there? What world do you live in where some **** pops off and everyone makes a circle and you're solo with homeboy? NO WORLD.

How is this pertinent to the topic?

When you're in an environment where there are multiple people engaging in a brawl, are you REALLY going to put someone in a triangle choke? are you REALLY going to try to do an ARMBAR on someone? If motha****ers are BRAWLING all around you? ARE YOU REALLY GOING TO TRY TO GROUND POUND? WRESTLE ON THE FLOOR? NO! you'll get your **** KICKED IN by the friends of the guy you're trying to make tap out.

Grappling, Brazilian Jujitsu, wrestling is almost useless in a TYPICAL, AVERAGE, REAL LIFE street fight situation. The fact of the matter is, the fastest way to a KO, the fastest way to hurt someone is with a PUNCH

I would rather be in a group of BOXERS in downtown Austin than a group of MMA fighters because Boxers are more effective at striking then an MMA fighter is. They can end the fight faster.

tell me how a ****en triangle choke would be helpful in this situation?

I mean, cmon, you guys have seen the examples..

But if I wanna be real about it? Real real? Kickboxing > Boxing in a streetfight situation
I'm a huge boxing fan and I think MMA is gay. But in a street fight, MMA > Boxing. Why? MMA = versatility. Boxing is part of MMA bro, believe it or not.

MMA is not just grappling, wrestling, and ground game. It also devastating strikes(kicks, muay tha, boxingi, and some karate) etc. Thus it being called, Mixed Martial Arts
. It doesnt mean that because you see most MMA fights going to the ground is it's always going to be the case bro.

Exactly use what works. Boxing, MMA, wrestling, who cares? As long as it saves your ass and allows you to go home, right?

Kicks can be effective in a street fight if they concentrate on taking out the other guys knees only. There is still the risk though of missing, falling off balance and getting countered hard.

Most street fights are fought with fists for a reason. Fists are the quickest way to disable a guy. You do not want to do a takedown as there are no rules and a guy can bite or take your eyes out with thumbs.

In a street fight you want to stay on your feet. If you are on the ground you are not only vulnerable to the guy you are fighting, but also his friends with their feet, rocks, bricks, whatever. This ground fighting stuff should never be attempted in uncontrolled conditions like a street fight.

lol, most street fights are fought with fist because most "street fights" are fought by people who dont know how to fight..

Kicks > punches ALL day , everyday, twice on Sunday.......

Kicks are fine, as long as they are kept short, straight and low. You telegraph a kick you miss and then get your ass handed to you. You miss a punch you can come across with another in an instant to fix your ****up.

Kimbo is a good streetfighter but if he goes 1 on 1 with some MMA guy that is the same size or so i think Kimbo would get his ass whooped everytime! Dont get me wrong, im not knocking Kimbo cause he can fight but he has nothing else to his game then stand up and it's showed up untill now.
I agree..but TBH i dont even think hes much of a street fighter...cause at the end of the day look at what hes fighting...the one time he fought a guy that wanted to fight back he lost...i recon i could beat ever guy he fought in those back gardens... and that aint saying much lol

                  That's what I'm yellin'
From a true boxing fan Muay Thai fighters would give a lot of boxers pure hell.
The smart MT fighter would kick the **** out of a boxers legs and take them from him.
Trust me boxers legs are not built for MT kicks and the average street dude would crumble after 3/4

You have a point but it really depends on the situation. The timing and power a boxer has are really handy. Accuracy is crucial.

I don't know about this, Muay Thai is an extremely effective striking style, BJJ would be somewhat useless in a real life situation but if you threw an elbow to someones face most likely thay are going to get KTFO
