Tsk tsk Pavlik! Im on Williams side now, I feel that's a duck and a slap in the face to Williams. Martinez got some balls to replace Pavlik with the quickness but Pavlik had way more of a chance than Martinez. I just want to know why couldn't Pavlik/Williams take place on the 19th instead.

WBC/WBO Middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik has, according to various reports, recovered from his staph infection and plans to defend his titles against Miguel Espino of "The Contender" fame on December 19 in the headline bout of a show that takes place in his backyard of Youngstown, Ohio. Pavlik had been scheduled to face Paul Williams on December 5 but withdrew, for the second time, with the lingering staph infection. Williams will now face Sergio Martinez on the same date. Guys I know everyone is upset with Pavlik. But lets try to be objective here.

Kelly may have recovered from his infection last week. The week of Nov 1st - Nov 7th. That would have given him FOUR weeks training for Williams if they had not cancelled the fight.

This new fight is a further 2 weeks down the road, giving him six-seven weeks training for a low level fighter.

I don't believe Kelly ducked Williams. I REALLY don't. And I am a fan of BOTH fighters.

If you saw any of the press conference videos of Kelly you would see how amped he was for the fight and how confident he appeared of beating Williams.

Its boxing. It can happen. Everyone is human and we can be injured...

Now what IS unfortunate is that I have never heard of this opponent and this random dude will get a crack at the Undisputed MW Championship...and on Top Rank PPV...

Oh brother... he's fighting who? and on ppv! lol. I laugh but this has been one highly disappointing and frustrating year if you're a boxing fan.
