Pernell and Floyd have 2 completely different fighting style; Pernell can stand in front of you and you'd hit nothing but air, Floyd stands in front of you and you hit nothing but gloves and shoulder. I'd have to say tho Pernell is slightly more entertaining to watch.
It's funny how hindsight is always 20/20 cause when he was in his prime people would say almost the same **** they do about Mayweather now.

Whitaker was dirty his best D was the low blow. Even then he lost fights because his D doesnt really translate to good offense. PBF Felix Sturm and Toney are the best defensive fighters IMO. Blocking>Dodging. They turn there defense into offense.

i don't care what people on here say---floyd's defense was the much more effective defense and he fought much better off of the ropes especially when it came to countering off of them---i can't expect anything less from people on here who try to diminish everything floyd does---now even his fighting style when in hindsight---floyd was much more fluent with his movement around the ring---pea avoidied punches well---in saying this---floyd would dust pea--without a shadow of a doubt---floyd's shoulder roll blocking made him much more precise with his counterpunching which is why his defense is better than pea's was....floyd could fight you in the pocket and counter off of his block---that is very rare in boxing nowadays...i give pea his proper due---his defense as far as his upperbody movement was spectacular---but floyd had the better defense overall because he didn't just rely on dipping and dodging punches---he rolled off of them, countered off of them, used the rope very well to throw his opponents off and then blast them---his defense was much more complex while pea's defense was just flashier---floyd is the better skilled fighter by far and would dust pea if they fought---his offense is more complex also because how accurate he is/was...he knew how to place punches very well and still does---so pea could look flashy against guys who threw sloppy punches or straight ahead punches, but fighting floyd---arguably the sharpest puncher of the last 4 or 5 decades, he would get caught a lot...and pea did get caught a lot...floyd would beat that boy---deal with it...

i remember in one fight--lampley said floyd's good critics compared him to sugar ray leonard---and his detractors(bad critics---compared him to pernell whitaker) that is a gifted fighter for you---and this was in only maybe his 11th or 12th fight----floyd *****s pea...

Floyd is obviously one of the great defensive fighters, but using elbows & forearms before tying up... spending most of his time back peddling are reasons I'm not a Floyd fan
Whitaker got hit more, fine... he's the more aggressive fighter and didnt spend the majority of fights avoiding getting in close completely
