    Floyd's win a Fluke

Hatton wasnt force to fight at 147 he wanted to fight at 147 to preserve his 140 title in case he losses, At 147 he didnt look like he had to kill himself and he didnt look like he was all bones like he did against Pacquiao.

I dont get why people prefer to see fighters who look dead at weigh in rather than see then fight at the next high weigh looking healthier..

he was an OK champion, definitely one of the biggest hype jobs of the past decades....i mean, **** for buck, he probably made 20 million dollars (if not more)...he had a couple of good wins, the one against Tszyu in my opinion was dodgy as ever and off the basis of that he set up his career.

but he really brought some heart and grit that the market needed and over in manchester it was what they wanted - a kid who punched above his weight and was one of the boys....i believe the hype actually helped him with his confidence and that couple with his superb stamina is what gave him a bit of success.

looking back on his career, for what he offered skill wise and for where and what he got, he'll probably look back and smirk and say that the managed to get 10 times more than probably another person of that skillset would have made....but credit to him, he brought many fans to the sport and also had so many of us fooled at times thinking that he was actually that good.....

i'll never forget that i was very sour after the Tszyu fight - when he then went and fought Collazo, after ten seconds I thought, ****, maybe this guy is a genuine top boxer...but only a round or two later into that fight I then re-realised that he wasn't a genuine top fighter.

the fight against mayweather he was never ever going to win (unless it was in another Tszyu-like fight atmosphere) although he was still always going to be given the opportunity to look OK against Mayweather due to PBF's defensive style.

While you all slag Hatton off, he would of probably beat Cotto @ 140.

I really doubt it tbh, but you never know. Anyways, I don't really agree with Roach. Yeah, Hatton couldn't beat the very best but I wouldn't be saying hes not that good of a champion. Just because Pac iced him quickly doesn't mean Rick is worse than lets say David Diaz for an example. I still think if Rick could take care of himself the only guy that really gives him a beating is Bradley. I think Rick could still beat the holy hell out of Juan Diaz or any of the other 140s right now. Ortiz or Holt would be interesting also. Hell, get Rick back in the ring there are still some interesting fights to be had.

I thought it was very disrespectful. Hatton always had trouble with Southpaws, especially quick ones. Collazo, Magee, Thaxton...all gave him tough fights, so of course someone like a Hatton was made for Pacquaio. Hatton still went 10 rounds with Floyd mayweather, many failed to do that, aswell as at a weight (147) he wasn't great at. Fact remains, Hatton has only lost two fights in a long professional career, to two of the top recognised p4pers on the planet...at least he fought them, if he was other fighters(not mentioning any names) and continue to fight bums,he could stay at home...earn more money, keep his undefeated record and still be fighting now. For a person like Roach to say "Hatton wern't that good for a world champ" yet he has one of the most overrated, hypejob, paper champ that has ever been (Amir Khan) i find highly hypocritcal...anyone who thinks Amir Khan would beat someone like a Ricky Hatton don't kno what they are on about. Furthermore, another thing which irritated me...Freddie Roach was never a succesful fighter, i mean...look at his career- Hatton achieved way more than what he ever did, and yet continues to be respectful....i'm not saying you have to be great to slag off someone lesser than you, but don't cry about being called a journeyman etc from someone like a Roger Mayweather. Freddie can dish it out but can't take it it seems. Ricky Hatton's defence-not good. But his offence was very good..one of the best inside fighters of recent times...yes he was ovverrated in my opinion (some people i remember hearing were saying "is Ricky Hatton the best ever after the Castillo fight"), but he was a good champion, he wasn't afraid to lose his unbeaten record...and gave the boxing community some great memorable nights. He was a great fighter, and is a great guy...and tbh i think he should enjoy his retirement, instead of having to tune in and watch 24/7 and look at some guy who achieved nowhere near in boxing what he did calling him basically a bum.

lol, look at all these fools rippin on hatton! he was never the best, he was a top ten p4p fighter tho, who has achieved more than many fighters have, including cotto. he was giving mayweather a cracking fight even tho he couldnt fight on the inside coz of the ref and it was mayweather doing all the holding early on. even after the point deduction for nothing lederman still had hatton 1 point up. and this is against the so called best with 3 judges from nevada and a fcuked up corrupt ref on floyds side. im not saying hatton would have won that fight, but i am saying hatton deserves more respect than roach just showed him.

Freddie "the joke coach" Roach was just mad at the recent comments hatton made where he said that floyd would own manny.
