some people post just to piss others.
they post outrageous claims/comments and even resort to unnecessary name-calling.

        roger on that!!

i can say that it was cotto's mistake from the beginning.
he could have talked to gato about that "clowning" rather than send gato packing without any clear explanation.
        it hurts....pride!!....ego!!
and they are both professional boxers!!

funny....cotto just made an excuse bout "clowning"
gato's fyting style, in trying to imitate manny, frustrated cotto no end.
gato said it as it is....

watch what manny can do to miguel....
No if you read between the lines of Gato's statement, it seems obvious to me from what he said that he was showing off during sparring, rather than following instructions, just like Cotto said he was. Of course, Gato doesn't see it that way, but that doesn't mean he wasn't doing it. His statement is full of egotistical comments that IMO unintentionally back up Cotto's point of view completely.

In any case, it seems to be a difference of opinion between them, rather than anything else.

Having said that, it does seem odd that Cotto didn't talk to him about it and say what he wanted Gato to do differently. Just sacking him without giving any reason at the time does seem wrong and unprofessional to me.

Another idiot who doesn't understand how fights are scored, and who imagines that compubox stats have anything to do with it.

And who doesn't know the meaning of the word "fact". Under the rules of boxing, the winner of a fight is whoever the judges score it to, unless the fight is stopped. That is a fact.

Red Sox nuthuggers are not baseball fans.

To use an analogy of a team sport that I'm more familiar with, I support Celtic Football Club (soccer to you). I love them, I root for them, but I do not pretend that they're better than they are, and I do appreciate any football team that plays great football, regardless of whether I support them or not.

If Celtic were about to play Manchester United, I would root for them, but I would expect them to lose, because I know something about the game. And I would appreciate the skills that Manchester United have. And after the game, I would not pretend that Celtic were just unlucky or that the ref was biased, I would admit that the better team won, and although sad to see my team lose, I'd appreciate the skills shown by both sides.

Now a Celtic nuthugger would expect Celtic to win, and would be incapable of appreciating the skills of any other team. Such a person could not be considered a fan of the sport. They are following the team for purely tribal reasons, and not out of any love of, or appreciation for, the sport as a sport.

You are a total idiot... in one of your posts you say "There are two sides to every story." Then, you completely believe what Gato says, who had paragraphs worth of talking and Cotto had a simple statement. The simple fact that he needs an entire article to simple say "I was making Cotto look like a fool and they kicked me out of camp" speaks volumes. But what I really found funny is how he stated Manny keeps his hands "mid-low." He killed his entire argument with that ****** statement. Manny NEVER keeps his hands low, ever. The lowest they go is near his chin, when he's moving his hands and bobbing his head. Then when he is on the defense his hands go up even higher to where his elbows are near his shoulders... WTF is he even talking about? Sure, he may have been creating angles, but that doesn't mean you were fighting at all like Manny. From the sounds of it he was fighting more like Paul Williams than a Manny and now he's just pissed he got booted from camp.

That's equivalent to saying, just because someone lives in Boston and is a rabid Red Sox fan they're not a baseball fan. Plenty of cynical people think you have to have decades of "insert sport here" knowledge memorized in order to be considered a "fan". I think if you like a sport enough to spend your own money on it, then that really is enough to call yourself a fan.

The thing about boxing is that people find fighters they enjoy watching and fighters they don't enjoy watching. It's common sense that they'll only pay for fighters and fights they'll enjoy. It doesn't mean they're not fans of boxing. Some people do take their favoritism of a certain fighter to the extreme, still it doesn't mean they're not boxing fans. I think it's just that hardcore boxing fans, in order to set themselves apart from the rest have narrowed down what a boxing fan is to the point that anyone who seems to favor a particular fighter much more than the other is not a boxing fan and only real boxing fans must like every style and every fighter regardless of how entertaining it is.
Alot of what you are saying gets negated by the fact that since i have been here, there have been top fighters who have come and gone, when that top fighter leaves, that poster often leaves with them. Again, majority of these people are not "hardcore" boxing fans, they are hardcore for one fighter and after that fighter falls, thats usually the end. I have seen this board evolve the way it has for years.

I Watched Most Of His HBO Fights....

....on TIVO, as much as I'd like him to win, I just don't see it happening on the 14th. He is stronger but his footwork is off and he punches like a Middle weight, powerful but slow, he will need luck to win.
