On the actual article, I think people are over-analysing things to a huge degree. Cotto was asked about Roach's comments and he dismissed them very quickly.

To anyone that is thinking normally, which is about three % of this board, it sounded like Cotto dismissed whatever Roach was saying and that whatever he would say meant nothing to him because Cotto understand that all Roach is trying to do is anger him and make him fight badly. Sounded like it wasn't working to me and that Cotto wasn't taking any notice of it.

Funnily enough though, everyone here is taking more notice of it and thinking about it more than Cotto is.

Basically what you are seeing here is exactly what thread stealer talked about the other day. How most people right now are on here not so much because they are fans of boxing, but mostly to sukk another fighters ****. All of the sudden fernando vargas is relevant because he gave his opinion on pac/cotto, and what you are going to see is an echo chamber of talking points from the past that have been discussed here previously. Like the Vargas/Wright fight, in which winky didint push hard enough in the championship rounds and made it closer than it should have been. Ill be damned if Vargas, whos career was basically ruined by trinidad, would be Cotto to do ANYTHING successful.

This place, as fight time gets closer, becomes similar to an enviorment similar to politics, where talking points are handed out and the partisan threads get made, and individuals, writers, pundits who support their side are suddenly praised, and those differing in opinion are villified. When this fight is over, one side will shut up for awhile, while the other celebrates and well rinse and repeat. What makes it noticable is the fact that every ****ing thread is in relation to either pac/cotto/mayweather.

I don't know how anyone could get carried away over the Wright/Vargas fight. As you said, it was a classic case of Wright thinking he had won it already and giving away the last two rounds, especially the last round though which he desperately needed to win, not move around while thinking he had it in the bag.

He should have fought that round as he had the first half of the fight. With smart aggression. Great fight by both. I still had him just up from memory but that's just me and it's very easy to see Vargas up and maybe I would have him up if I watched it again. I don't know, but either way that fight was as close as you get.
