Cotto was not good at 154

if you look at cotto's record at 154 he was 5-4 if you count the canelo fight which was at 155. he beat 1 top 10 ring ranked opponent which was yuri foreman ranked #6. for comparison he was 5-0 against top 10 guys at 140 and 5-2 at 147.

i have seen some people list a 154 pound cotto as some kind of top level win but either the weight didn't suit him or boxing took its toll on him by they time he fought there cause he was not very good and we have a large sample size of fights to show that. this wasnt a 1 off move up in weight, take a loss and then go back down to a normal weight. this was a guy that spent about 7 years there and couldnt get it done so not sure how can you say beating him there is any type of great win.

i think this is a clear example of name value and not really looking at the facts...jack. oh but he did beat some crippled guy named sergio martinez at 160 if you think that amounts to a hill of beans...

At one point Canelo and Floyd Mayweather said that he was their toughest fight to date so he was obviously a force to be reckoned with there at the 154/155 mark.

ah well in that case great win boys! you beat a guy who has a sh-it resume but because you said he was good that proves it. or in other words "dont believe your lying eyes" "dont believe the facts" as if floyd didnt have an agenda to saying that? he ducked cotto for years until finally facing him, its not surprising he said that in order to give himself more credit. narcissist alert! and canelo saying cotto was tougher than floyd who easily beat him? ok....why are you listening to these bozos and believing them? they have no credibility. thats why we use the stats and cotto wasnt good. if you replaced him and stuck in average joe with the same resume at 154 no one would care or think highly of him

I like miguel, but I think I heard yuri hurt knee in fight too. But floyd fans want you think cotton was a monster at 154. Maybe spence will be a monster at 154 too?
Seems like fighters coming to end of career who lose a few, can blame their losses on struggling to make weight. I'm sure cotto did feel more comfortable at 154 though

Floyd boys like to hear themselves say Floyd beat Cotto at 154 no catchweight to counter Manny beating the brakes off him in his prime at welterweight.

they want that so bad...but it will never happen, and the sad part is floyd could have fought cotto at 147 but he ran away which makes this even more undignified

they really dont have a very good hand to play because if they say pac drained cotto at 145, then floyds best win of his career against canelo at 152 comes off the board for him. they cant say with any credibility that beating cotto at 154 was a great win because it simply was not. austin trout in cottos very next fight beat him with utter ease and cotto just doesnt have any good wins there, a lot of memories sure, but his best win was yuri foreman. cotto hung around 154 for 7 years but he was not one of the elite fighters there, he was in old fighter make money mode

It was a decent win at best over a shopworn version of Cotto. A lot of Cottos mystique had wore off by the time he fought Floyd.

Prime undefeated Cotto called Floyd out at 147 after he beat Mosley and Floyd beat Hatton, but Floyd ducked him and the division for two years.

it was an ok win nothing wrong with that but for fans to portray it as a top level win? it wasnt and if 154 cotto is one of your top level wins your career prob wasnt too good then. floyd has a lot of wins much better than that and even i know that and i dont like him

Who cares about ranking? What were the fighters he fought at that weight? Typical a s s backwards way of looking at things. I do not even know who he fought at that weight but do know he took tough fights. in typical duhgum fashion you have isolated a small part of his career and used nonsense to justify a conclusion. Why do you feel such a need to disparage fighters? Cotto was a beast.

Who cares what he was ranked by alphabet soup? YOU DO!!!
