It's hard to argue with this. Same happens in MMA.

The judges already know whose the bigger money fighter, and would be the promoters favoured person to win.

Even if it needs more of a hint and a perk, bung. Which goes on. It's probably gotten so tacit they know who to favour, and a subtle wink or a comment from a promoter, or via a 3rd party. Is all it needs to encourage that outcome along. Then whoever it is in the promoters (won't always be the top dog) has plausible deniability.
