Comments Thread For: Tyson Fury doesnt throw a punch at open workouts as his trainer hints at absentee in corner

Tyson Fury didnt throw a punch at tonights open workouts in Riyadh ahead of Saturdays rematch with world heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk. Instead, he repeatedly mouthed the words "pain" and "damage", then disappeared, but attempting to read too much into Fury, or indeed these promotional workouts, is largely pointless.

    Funny puff piece.
I guess the reporters can only report what they see and hear, which is next to nothing.
    I like Usyk's brevity: "Okay".
Which, of course, is an anagram of Kayo.
Is he trying to tell us something?
dannnnn dannnnn Verus Verus like this.

Fury behaving differently... tells me that Usyk is in his head.

      It's written all over Fury.

He's behaving differently because it's his first loss.

Fury has always spent the pre-fight doing what he wants. This time he's making conscious decisions.

          His pride is battered.

I've liked the seemingly more focused Fury of the last few days but his demeanor in the interview just after the media workout reminded me a bit of the final presser last time where he wouldn't look at Usyk. He seemed nervous and was very unconvincing where every answer was something lilke, "crash, b.ang, wallop, pain." It just came across as forced and a bit like Wilder refusing to speak in the build up to their third fight.

Fury seemed nervous throughout fight week last time, whereas this time he's come across as confident, serious and focused until that media workout where he looks unsure of himself again. Having said that, none of this really matters and I'm expecting a better Fury this time.

This place is full of idiotic takes. Fury is locked in and focused. You're clueless.

Fury seemed nervous talking to the girl after his "workout"?! He seemed annoyed. He didn't have an ounce of nervous haha WTF are you talking about? Stop with the BS psychology crap. He's ready to fight. That's it

                    LOL
                    Mine included, no doubt.
Isn't that at least half the fun of it all?
Trying to divine the psychology of a pug in the pre-fight build-up is always intriguing since the mental game is such a crucial component of it all.
My take is that Usyk seems to always have ice in his veins and is supremely disciplined in and out of the ring. Fury, on the other hand, is a volatile and (at times) self destructive personality. So what does Fury's behavior now portend for the fight? It's anyone's guess but I enjoy the guessing. Then we compare notes after the fight to sort it all out.
