Comments Thread For: WBO won't recognize Errol Spence Jnr as title challenger in Sebastian Fundora bout

I don't get it why? usually former champs can get a title shot without being ranked

Thank god. Finally some common sense. Spence is damaged goods. At least the WBO can clearly see he's going to get dogged walked. How much brain damage does this guy need? You flew out of car from drunk driving, came back and got hit in the head more and then in your biggest fight of your career you were getting dropped by jabs.

Spence was never ranked by the WBO. He got beat down by their 147lb wbo champion. So in his first fight back after getting dog walked, he goes in a new weight division and he gets a crack at the wbo belt at 154lb after losing to the 147lb wbo champion? That makes no sense. Now if this was a rematch against Crawford at 154lb then fine I could see that.

I think he's punch drunk at this point.

I am glad they are standing firm on this. The whole thing of Spence walking into the ring to challenge Fundora was staged so badly that it stank in my opinion. He had no business being there when there are so many legitimate contenders at 154 who are actually fighting each other for the opportunity to challenge for the title. Spence has done nothing for the last 18 months and it does not look like he is preparing for a fight either.

Good. Fvkc that hypejob. Idk how tf people are ok with him getting a shot at a champ in a higher weight class when he hasn't fought all year and got beat tf up

Didn’t read the article, but they did the same thing when Tim was gonna fight Thurman until he pulled out and Fundora stepped in , but Tim would lose the belt if he lost to Thurman

Hope that’s the case here too.

Yeah, when they voluntarily move up without a KO defeat in between lol.

Probably depends on if Crawford gets the Canelo fight in May. If he does, he ain't coming back to 154. If he doesn't get it, the likely path is to try to get Fundora and then Murtazaliev to become undisputed a third time and then retire.
