But at least he didn't let his career just rot away by not fighting even if it was against unknown unnoteworthy opponents. Munguia is 28 years old, has a solid fan base backing (1.4 Million and 300 K followers in the Media) and think his ceiling is at 168. Tim Tszyu didn't get recognition until he was the same age. Too bad he got overwhelming lost to Bakhram recently.

As for Canelo, he is holding the division hostage with him holding the majority the belts with quite a low activity rate, he is also choosing unworthy fighters for a title shot after he lost to Bivol. Heck, I like Jaime but he barely had few bouts at 168 and they were all against lesser opposition than the opponents Benavidez and Morrell have beaten. Canelo is holding the division at a standstill like Spence and Crawford did at 147, but he is not even making the few fights he has worth it. Every sanctioning body like the WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO he makes a decision and every fighter at 168 avoiding taking risks to not lose a title shot opportunity. Be nice if he could just say he wants fight who he wants, and give up the belts. Be a prize fighter like Gervonta Davis Or move up, but he is treating his career as a business than a sport now, he will let the division rot if it means he is getting compensated for fighting lesser opposition like Eubank Jr or a Jermell Charlo moving up two divisions.

As for Iglesias, might be the case unless he were to win a title, but knowing Canelo that could take years unless one of them move up.
All goes back to canelo, benavidez held up for almost three years, and now he is facing Morrell jr, mbilli, pacheco, and all other contenders at SMW are holding up for the ginger paycheck, the alphabet soups should take away the belts and start a round-robin to crown one champ from every Organization, and the champs can decide to unifiy.

He already fought Ryder (Gatekeeper), Canelo (Unified Champion) and Bazinyan (Ranked Contender WBO #2, WBA #4, WBC #7, IBF #7 Erik Bazinyan). Don't think this fight will be treated as a significant bout, not even compared against a diminished Ryder.

Cristian M'billi was in talks already against Pacheco for the last month or two, until team Benavidez and Eddie Hearn opted for Steven Nelson for his development over McCumby and M'Billi. It's not like the two could be in talks when Munguia was in talks against Gavril aswell for Decemeber. It was announced Wednesday that Christian Mbilli and Jaime Munguia should fight for the WBC’s interim super middleweight title in 2025. It will be down to Top Rank and Eye of the Tiger to work out a deal, which is pretty likely considering both collaborate pretty often to show fights from Canada to ESPN and both fighters had called each other out after winning their latest bout.

Also have to take into account that Iglesias has just recently climbed the rankings just becoming allegeable to fight for a title shot for the IBF (#7) and WBC (#5), he isn't as well known as the rest of the Super Middleweights outside of the hardcore boxing fans that seen his dominant performances against Agbeko and Ivanov. He might be better than most Super Middleweights, but with his 30-50K viewership, he isn't as well known while not fighting under a specific big promotion.
Stay busy fight vs a cab driver at this point in his career is embarrassing. He a seasoned pro whos fans claim he is one of the top guys at 168. Imagine if Benavidez was fighting this bum, he would be torn to pieces. Ryder was a bum fight, Dervachenko was a 38 year old MW, and Bazin was only a mid level SM. Mungia is a career can crusher, this fight is normal for him. He blatantly ducked Benavidez just like Canelo.

Think this should be a pretty good scrap. Garcia has been on a decent run .

Abdu has loss 3 of his last 5, but he fought well against Katz in his last fight in that OTX tourney.
