Comments Thread For: It's better to wait than be overweight: why boxing needs a new weigh-in policy

Keyshawn Davis annihilated Gustavo Lemos in an ostensible lightweight fight, but that doesn't mean the overweight Lemos should have been allowed in the ring in the first place.

Boxers fight because they need to get paid. If "Boxing" is going to cancel fights when one guy misses weight , maybe the promoters should buy insurance against it so that the fighter on weight and the promotion don't lose their money. Just an idea.

Cutting weight should be banned and fighters should fight at their walking weight, IMO.

I like the idea but it would be impossible to enforce it.

With the technology we have today it's quite simple, you have to make a weight but you also have to make it at certain body mass percentages.

Fighter's could easily be scanned/measured & the measurements will produce your fight weight every year.

The fight's can then be easily set up & the weight cuts healthy.

The solution is simple. SAME DAY WEIGH IN. That's the way it used to be and forces the fighters to compete in their correct weight divisions.

Don’t pay them if they miss weight. Nothing

Guarantee you nobody misses weight ever again.
