Tszyu can build himself back up. His power is enough to beat a certain level of opposition even with his flaws. In order to get past his current ceiling he will need to add some things that we have yet to see.

Murtazaliev is a good fighter but Tszyu did everything possible to give the Chechen the best possible chance at victory. Murtazaliev went the distance with Khiary Gray (who was stopped in 6 by Spike O'Sullivan).

I completely agree. It has been all Tim talk just because he is more popular. A big cong**** is in order for Murt! I really look forward to seeing what he can do in the future.

I lean towards this. Mur is a very good fighter but Tim obviously took him incredibly lightly and he got caught with a shot that concussed him. He was mentally gone after that first knockdown, getting up and trying on instinct alone. As others have said, his corner should have stopped it earlier. He was not able to make sense of what was happening and was just hoping for a big shot to land, to get payback.

If you watch Tszyu in his ofher fights, he isn't terrible defensively, he honestly has a good chin and he has a sneaky way of fighting very relaxed and inside himself, and he has always had enough head movement and reflexes to not get hit alot. The Mendoza fight is a good example. Mendoza has real KO power and Tim knew it. He showed waaaay more respect to to Mendoza than he did Mur, because Mur had not fought big names and Tim obviously thought he had beaten better, so he would beat this guy.

Mur obviously knew this, he said in the post fight that they prepared all camp for Tim's weaknesses and he worked on those specific shots. He landed them. Mur was utterly prepared, nothing surprised him.

And Tim got caught in just the right spot and it was over, much like AJ against Ruiz, he was concussed and was not going to recover. I've watched it four time. Tszyu did not know what he was doing for the rest of the fight, he was gone and a shell.

His career going forward at this point IMO rests on a few factors. He has to humble himself and always prepare for the guy in front of him and treat every fight like the guy is a real threat. He has to cater his style and power to his opponent, no just winging it and trying to impose his will. He has to work with people who can hone his defense and increase his ring IQ, who won't just tell him that he is a bad mother. And he needs a corner who knows what to do in a crisis. His corner was awful. He didn't need to take all that damage.

He hasn't taken any other real big damage and he is talented. But he is also 30 and set in his ways.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

So then based on your theory Tszyu is a bum and won't get past O'Sullivan...or he just gave Murtazaliev the win. Tszyu was a bum Sat. night without any theory or any excuses.

If he's in a big fight next it'll be because someone like a Crawford or Spence will look to capitalize on a seemingly vulnerable Tim. I don't think Tim needs a big fight right now. He needs to recover his momentum and his confidence. It looks like the bad cut he suffered in the Fundora fight affected him negatively. Mentally I think it's still lingering in his mind. The Bakhram fight was a toss up. I actually saw Bakhram's last fight against a 39 year old Culcay and Culcay gave him some tough moments. I thought Bakhram would be a live fighter because he was going to be hungry and determined to make a statement. But I thought Tim's experience and his style would have been enough to earn him the victory. Of course that's not what happened. Now I think it's time for Tim to rest up and get ready for a new fight. But not against a top opponent.
