Comments Thread For: Official: David Benavidez team has offered fight to David Morrell

A boxing official connected to the situation told BoxingScene Thursday that an offer from Phoenix's Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) has been sent over to representatives of Morrell (11-0, 9 KOs), and they are waiting to hear back.

This is a great fight, hope it happens.

Update: Told by David Benavidez that reports of him potentially fighting David Morrell next are not true, he will be facing Jesse Hart in December.

    Man what a letdown.

I'll be shocked if this fight happens. Benavidez has seen a crack in Morrell's armor, I don't think Morrell is ready to risk having a loss on his record, this early in his career.

But this would be a very intriguing fight!

We are witnessing a stark contrast between Benavidez and Canelo. The dude who is clearly being avoided is fighting the other guy who is being avoided. You would think this would embarrass Canelo but he continues to move on saying dumb **** like he's boxing best and "I fight everyone" when it's clear as day he's running from guys late in his career. Just because you did fight guys in your younger years does not give you license to run from guys when you're hoarding the belts and making claims like being the best boxer in the world and then give excuses why you won't fight guys who you can make the most money with and fans are clamoring for it but "you can do whatever you want" yes you can and I and the rest of the fans can call you a chicken **** for doing so too. Why would someone so beloved do this to his career? It would have been less damage to taken the fight and gotten his face mashed in than what he's done to his reputation.

not taking away from benavidez as this is a great fight but its a bit sus how he decided to take this fight when he saw that Morell clearly isn't effective as he was at 168...

To be fair, neither was he.
