There are more champs than contenders these days! I never said margarito was a ducker. Margarito beat Sergio... But Citron and the other fighters he beat were solid and not great fighters.

Floyd did not have the greatest resume for an ATG, but it is a hll of a lot better than Margaritos! But lets play devil's advocate here: lets say Margarito was a champ, he beat Clottey and Cintron two decent fighters... He got a great scalp in martinez... Lets see what happened when margarito stepped up: Mosley, Cotto and Pac. This tells me Floyd was right to avoid the fight. Margarito was never able to step up.
Clottey, another fully fledged WW that Floyd ducked in spite of those smaller 140 fighters w all those numerous losses nobody asked for, Cotto had all the problems in the world dealing with Clottey. The Clottey of back then would beat Ennis with ease at 147 in the current era.

These guys were decent fighters they were not special. Fighters who are decent present good competition even to great fighters. I don't know how Ennis at this stage in his career compares to Clottey.

If you look at Clottey's record, he too lost to the marquee level of competition. It's just like I'm trying to tell you it's not that c l o t t e y is a bad fighter. But you can clearly see when he stepped up he lost just like margarita which is no incentive for other marquee fighters to take a fight with such a fighter.

You are defending those Guerrero, Jmm, Ortiz, Maidana fights but they were all bums. Says it all really.

At welterweight they had no resumes , we’re unproven and came from smaller weights.

JMM went on to have a SD with a prime Bradley, beat Mike Alvarado in Fight of the year and accomplished the best feat of any fighter at welterweight when he KO'd Pacquiao.
