Basically, he was hoping Crawford would take a fight at 168 or 160 instead of enforcing the mandatory status. Then Fundora could keep both of his belts and defend against Spence.
But now he has to choose: he can either fight Spence next as he was planning to and drop the WBO belt, or he can take the Crawford fight next and go for a WBA/WBC/WBO unification.
That's the choice Fundora has:
fight Errol Spence for 1 belt
or
fight Terence Crawford for 3 belts
