It’s like Pacquiao coming of the couch to fight Barrios! That’s a lose-lose for Barrios! Now if Pacquiao had destroyed Conor Benn first, that’s a much better fight! The casuals would actually pay to see that! Tank would be better off fighting Pitbull and Shakur, in either order!
I don't think Barrios or Tank care about how much shine they get off of those fights - they just know there is some shine there and hard-core fanboys will take that too. Casuals won't know the difference.
What you say applies to discerning fans who even on NSB are few and far between. You never hear a Tank fan say "I can really relate to Tank, who he is, and how he fights, but I'd really like to see him challenge himself more" - you just never hear that and never will.

The problem with fans, are they relate too much! They feel ALL criticism is bad! I’m a Boots fan, but I don’t trip when someone says “He gets hit too much.” Back to Tank. Saying he doesn’t challenge himself, says Barrios, Pitbull, and Ryan Garcia are not challenges. Like it or not, those 3 wins, 2 by KO, have aged well. 2 are current champions! I hope he fights Shakur or Pitbull next! I think both are formidable opponents!

I do think that Tank would have knocked out Loma.

Tank vs Shakur is a different story imo.

I believe a fight between Loma and Tank will be a lot more competitive than most people on this forum expect. Loma has aged, but in his last fight he showed us he still has 80% left of the prime Loma which is enough to compete with most of the current champions. Also, none of us really know what is happening at fighters homes and / or behind the closed doors while negotiations are taking place. Therefore none of us know the real reasons for why a fight does not take place. A lot of people here pretend to know and pretend to be smart, but it is just posturing.

Agree - fans relate too much - great way of saying it. I liked Golovkin's seek and destroy style but I could see where people were coming from when they criticised his resume, but he had the same problem as Boots has now, being avoided by those with something to lose. Tank's situation is different - he's the A side so he can choose to fight pretty much whoever he wants. I see his team matchmaking very carefully - I'm not sure he has never been in a 60-40 fight since he got beyond prospect stage. That's partly because he's so good but also because nobody on his team wants to slam the brakes on the gravy train.
His best win is Martin in my opinion. PitBull and Barrios have kind of lucked into titles at 140 and 147 and Ryan was handicapped with the rehydration clause. Not saying they are bad wins - they are good wins but he was heavily favored to win in those fights by the bookies if I'm not mistaken. I'd like to see the Shakur fight - it'd be his first 50-50-ish fight and a chance to really showcase his boxing IQ and get the whole boxing community onside - there'd start to be talk of him being an ATG

If Pitbull wins by KO, that’s the fight to make! Only hardcore fans appreciate Shakur’s skill set! However, if Tank destroys Pitbull, immediately the haters will say “Tank is ducking Shakur!” If he destroys Shakur, immediately the haters will say, “Tank beat a feather-fisted fighter, and was ducking Pitbull!” **** the haters, get the biggest bag possible! Loma was for legacy, and he don’t want smoke! Get the loot!

Davis and Shakur have to unify the division rather than cherry pick opponents.

Seems moot since loma turned yellow and opted to avoid Tank

A few weeks ago one of Tank’s cornermen said Loma didn’t want smoke, and Tank was fighting Shakur! So far he’s on point! Let’s see if the other half of his statement is true? I have a feeling that if Pitbull puts on a show on August 3rd, he gets the rematch!

Good. The truth. I'm not going to fight Tank right now. Nice to see him negotiate. Stay tuned.
