I want Cotto to be light for this fight since Cotto is naturally bigger then Pacquiao and needs the extra speed to keep up with Pacman.

He's come in at 146 the last fights, and has had no problem making the weight. He'll re-hydrate to about 158 on fight night, which for this fight can only do him good, against a fast footed fighter like Manny. Coming in heavier than 158 will make him sluggish and heavy footed, which is totally against what he's striving for. Nope, we're not crazy peek, just happily insane. lol

Actually he struggled badly to make 140lb. Im sure 145 will affect him somewhat especially with Roach crying that Cotto might do what Mayweather did to Marquez and come in at 147. If it was nothing I don't think Roach would bothered.

Well I think is a gentle men. He will be 145lbs in the weigh-in. Not just like the other guy out there who paid $600,000 since he couldn't make weight..

Freddy's plan was actually to have this fight at 143Lbs but Cotto refused to go below 145 and u can tell it really bothered Roach..

Wouldn't it be the darnest thing if Cotto comes in at 143
It would be like Cotto kicking Roach in the balls.

Sigh. Only someone who has never had to make weight would take that position. The pound from 158 to 157 isn't that hard for Miguel to lose. The pound from 147 to 146 or from 146 to 145 is VERY hard to lose. Very.

Campbell could not dry down another 2 pounds. Malignaggi just went through tough negotiations to try to move the contract weight by 1.5 pounds.

Mayweather said that he ran on the treadmill for 20 minutes teh day before to lose 0.5 pounds.

If the one pound (or two pounds) was not such a big deal, then why wouldn't Roach just agree to the fight at 146 or 147?

To gain a mental advantage over Cotto? I jog all the time, its not that hard to lose one pound. Hell jogging, you can easily lose about 4 pounds if you jog too crazy.

Being lighter doesn't necessarily make you faster. Ask Chris Byrd or Oscar Delahoya. What makes you faster is being healthier and more explosive.

There are many guys who move up in weight and get faster. For example, Miguel Cotto. He is a much better , faster boxer at 147 than he was at 140 because he was draining himself to make that weight.

Sprinters don't try to get skinny to get fast. They lift weights.
