Or how Roger is twice the trainer Freddie Roach will ever be and yet he gets half the credit? I can partially understand why that's the case when Roach is an attention whore who forces himself into the limelight telling every excruciating detail of how Manny's training is going to anyone who will listen, while Roger plays the background role like a trainer should.
But does that excuse Roach (arguably one of the most overrated trainers of all time) winning all these accolades while Roger rarely gets mentioned, and even more insultingly, has never won the trainer of the year award?
Roach's claim to fame is picking up a fighter who already had most of the tools he has today then catching his punches and making sure he's in the shot whenever he's on camera. Roger on the other hand almost single handedly molded a young Floyd into the greatest fighter of a generation. He has no losses on his record and without Roger's tutelage he wouldnt have been able to develop into the fighter he is today.
So with that in mind, am i the only one who thinks it's a travesty that Roger hasnt won the trainer of the year award? I understand he likes to speak his mind and can be controversial at times, but as far as trainers go, the guy's a living legend. I'm suprised noone's tried to boycott the Boxing Writers Association of America yet.
