Silliness and drama aside, this situation shows how the world is changing. ODLH talking about "making" Garcia. Regardless of what any of the old timers think of him, Garcia has a huge social media following and built his own name and following. Golden Boy needs Garcia far more than he needs them, which is plain when you see that Oscar is basically in a panic to try and apologize and get back in Ryan's good graces. Canelo was forced to stay with Golden Boy longer than he wanted, even with Oscar obviously doing shady **** behind the scenes to get the cards he wanted with GInger.

Social media is honestly a poison and incredibly toxic for the most part. But for these guys that can build a following and leverage that, it gives the guy with the fame the power.

Hopefully Garcia gets away from Oscar at some point in the near future. Canelo isn't exactly without an ego, but you can tell from what he has said about Oscar, the dude is a real douche behind the scenes.

I'm not sure about this narrative. Having a social media following doesn't translate into have the infrastructure and logistical ability to put on boxing events. Even Floyd Mayweather outsourced this for a large part of his latter career.

If Garcia leaves Golden Boy it won't be to self-promote in the logistical sense of that term. He needs a traditional promoter of some kind. I don't see anything impressive about his outbursts, he seems like a histrionic child to me.

Oscar is a strange man for sure. Probably a sociopath.

I was thinking the same thing. Why would Garcia sign with them if he didn't need them? I've heard people say "Garcia is making them money" but surely it's mutually beneficial and they're making each other money otherwise what would be the point?

No other fighter at Garcia's level of fights so far has anywhere near the following he does. Any promoter he goes to worth anything will get large PPV numbers with him.

I don't see the kid having "outbursts". He is being attacked by his own promoters in public. Because he fought Tank and agreed to the rehydration clause? What seems obvious now is that Oscar knew well that Garcia had been hurt in camp and that the sparring partner went and told Davis, or that he was being paid by Davis before he even went into the sparring camp. And Oscar knew that Garcia was going to struggle with the rehydration.

Garcia obviously told him, I can do it, and believed that he was just that much better than Davis. Kid was wrong. But why in F would Oscar come out questioning his own fighter, not showing up to the post fight stuff, and generally acting like a total ****? Garcia made the decision, they all made a bunch of money.

It sounds to me like Oscar and Bhop are acting like children. Back the guy who just made you both millions in public, build him up, don't act like mad little kids. Garcia has been responding to this silliness, not starting it.

Oscar, Bhop, Golden Boy, they are the ones gossiping in public like women about their biggest prospect. How anyone puts this unprofessional **** on Garcia, I will never know.
