I believe they gave him the big money fight at a moments notice - and told him he'd earn big bucks out of nowhere - but there's a but: "No KO punches! Got that, Robert?" This is gangster-run boxing we're talking about, not a legitimate honest sport. It made no sense otherwise. He was just dawdling, killing time, and he had to know he couldn't win on points in that place. This was his chance of a lifetime. He had to go for broke, for the KO, not do silly boring sparring.

PS Sorry for repeating myself to a large extent, but i think that most people, me included, didn't read this whole giant thread.

Why watch boxing if every fight is fixed? Helenius had 1 round under his belt since the Kownacki rematch. He got crushed in one round by Wilder. Comes back a year later to fight in his home country in an 8 rounder against a guy with 6 pro fights. Exactly how hard do you think he trained for that? Then Whyte pisses dirty & he gets the call on a week’s notice. I’m pretty sure he wasn’t in peak form against Joshua but he probably got a nice 6 digit check to take the fight. This reminds me of when Povetkin pissed dirty before one of his fights & they called Duhaupus on 1 day notice & paid him 500000 to save the event in Moscow. He had to borrow a pair of trunks & shoes to fight. He was on holidays with his wife. He lasted 6 rounds. Helenius was obviously not in peak shape for the 6 fight pro & hit the jackpot with this fight. I don’t think anyone expected him to win. He never had the best gas tank at the best of times so how much gas do you think he had in the tank for this fight?

        1. Of course I never said EVERY fight is fixed. Many of the big time fights are though.

        2. Povetkin never "pissed dirty". That baloney was concocted by Wlder's handlers and the Mafia-VADA outfit to keep their cash cow from fighting Povetkin when Povetkin was still in top form (Wilder had never even gone to Europe. He knew the fight wasn't going to happen). Povetkin was using some perfectly legal health food store supplement that they secretly declared illegal the week before.

        3. Helenius fought the same from the beginning. It wasn't as if he came on fast and hard and ran out of gas. His only chance was a KO win. I think he might have gotten it too if he tried. Joshua didn't look that good.

I agree that Joshua didnt look good.

I also agree that it seemed like Helenius was "dawdling and killing time".

But who can say for sure? It's a plausible explanation but just a guess.

No he pissed dirty with meldonium. He admitted taking it but had stopped once the drug became banned. He got a mulligan for that one. Oh & Wilder was in England when the test results came in. Also Duhaupas stepped in when Povetkin failed his SECOND drug test. He was set to fight Stiverne in a (WBC interim title) final eliminator. It wasn’t the Wilder fight I’m talking about. He failed for a muscle building substance Ostarine. Helenius never took no dive against Wilder or Joshua. I like Povetkin but he is a 2 time drug cheat. Go watch all of Helenius’ fights the last 10 years. He always fights the same & got KTFO by Wilder, Washington & Duhaupas before the Joshua fight. Slow & robotic. He had Whyte in trouble early but gassed & Whyte cruised to a UD. Helenius looked like the real deal until the injuries & promotional issues took his prime years away so now he just shows up & fights at one speed. No urgency, no aggression & with a very limited gas tank & skillset.

Joe Strong - I can't quote yr post for some reason. I don't believe that Povetkin was a drug cheat. He didn't look like one. His body looked very natural. He vehemently denied it and I believe him. Here's an ESPN article on it:

"Helenius looked like the real deal until the injuries & promotional issues took his prime years away so now he just shows up & fights at one speed. No urgency, no aggression & with a very limited gas tank & skillset."

I have to agree with that sentence. His stock was high again after the two Kownacki fights, but now I guess retirement is in his future. That's not bad, retiring at age 39 - as long as his brain is intact from those knockouts. He disappointed me and I'm not the only one. I noticed him continuously lowering his arms last night as if they were tired. His arms got tired from just holding them up and not doing anything much with them.

Here is Helenius vs Brewster in 2010 when he was on the way up, a very different fighter. Look at all the rights he threw! I would have liked to see that Helenius last night.

Wilder sends a telegram before throwing his right hand so as long as joshua stays focused and waits for wilder to go apeman and then land that dynamite on his chin it’s all over .....wilder is dangerous when you over extend yourself and dive in and attack which we have seen with spilka , Ortiz , fury in the last fight and helenius (even with that phantom punch lol ) .......it’s a gun fight and my money is on Joshua because technically he is as far superior to wilder in almost every aspect

I main thing is that AJ is staying busy. Like Joe Louis, he needs a bum of the month until he's ready to take on the big boys.

                    Odd guy.
You posted something utterly banal -- Wilder is going to KO Joshua, hey, it could even happen in the first round!!

No proof, no reasons provided for why this might happen, just a random claim given in a kind of triumphal manner, as though it counted against Joshua that this unreasoned claim was in your head. And so I derided the banality of your post.

You responded not by defending your comment, not by trying to provide any reason to back up what you had said, but by attempting to attack my reading comprehension.

So, yes, this is a discussion -- about the Joshua vs Helenius fight.

You posted some off-topic fantasy about a different fight and got your comment mocked. Don't get your hackles up because when you post something silly your comment gets treated as something silly.
