Al Haymon and Mayweather are some of this industry's most brilliant chess players. Look at the Spence and Crawford fight. Crawford felt like he "won" in negotiations against Spence, and maybe he did, but now he's working with the PBC. PBC took a bet so to speak, if Spence won, they had an even bigger star and #1 p4p, and if Bud won, they have a new star and #1 p4p. Fair exchange either way. On top of this, with Bud still working with Al, there's an incentive for Shakur Stevenson and Keyshawn Davis to come over to PBC.
Keyshawn has the Frank Martin fight available, and Shakur potentially has the Tank fight lined up in the near future. Additionally, Mayweather did some training with Stevenson and Davis recently, almost to show Arum, that "I can take these fighters from you." Shakur Stevenson can't get a fight to save his life, and Keyshawn is ready to step up in competition. Don't forget, that with AJ working alongside Derrick James, and the AJ vs Wilder fight being in talks for December or early 2024, AJ could come over to PBC as well. I'm not a PBC fanboy at all, but you have to admire their chess moves.
Also, with Mayweather alluding to Inoue being on "PEDs," some of the shine is being taken off of Top Rank's new star. He's almost trying to bait Arum and Inoue into taking the Tank fight. Mayweather is hoping that the Tank vs Inoue fight will happen so that Tank can knock off one of TR's most lucrative fighters. Once again, brilliant move.
Andre Ward was let go from TR, not long after doing his documentary with Showtime, interesting. I'm almost certain Top Rank wasn't very fond of that move by Ward. Plus, why wouldn't ESPN fund Ward's documentary, he's a HOF and arguable ATG who currently worked for them. Do not be surprised if Andre Ward comes over to PBC to commentate. It seems like PBC kind of "let go" of Shawn Porter, commentating-wise, almost like they were waiting for somebody else to fill his position. Just food for thought.
Last but not least, PBC has Canelo, and they've been putting on the biggest fights of the year. Can't help but feel as though TR (who faced budget cuts this year), and DAZN (who's feeding off the Jake Paul hype) maybe be coming to an end within the next decade or so.
