Unfortunately for Spence, all the things he said, Bud flipped the script. Not only was Crawford taking the punches of Spence but he was more durable. Better chin, better skills better believe in Bud now! Where are all the Spence fans this morning!? Crawford took his soul. Not sure where Spence goes from here. Sugar Ray weathered Hearns' storm and stopped him for the first time at welter, yet Hearns would go on to destroy Duran at middleweight in 2 rounds and have a tear of a run besides.

Countless other situations where going up in weight actually improved the fighter especially if they were struggling to make the weight, as Spence repeatedly said he was even going into the Ugas fight.

Look at Haney vs. Loma. Haney was struggling to make weight prior to that fight too and damn near lost.

Point is you can't discount what effect the weight might have had on Spence. He's been on record for years that cutting weight was increasingly hard for him - even in the postfight he said he "promised" he would make the weight, which seems to imply that he wasn't sure he'd be able to when he signed the agreement.

A rematch at 154 silences that noise once and for all.
