Comments Thread For: Joseph Diaz Reveals Struggles with Alcoholism, Drugs, Vows to Become Champion Again

Joseph "JoJo" Diaz Jr. is hoping to turn over a new leaf. In a series of candid tweets over the past weekend, the former featherweight titlist and current lightweight contender from Southern California admitted he has struggled with alcoholism and other drugs for the past few years. Apologizing to his fans, Diaz promised he would rebound, noting that while he has kicked his drug habit, he has yet to conquer his battle being on the bottle.

That's probably why he had to keep moving up in weight. He's too small for 135 much less 140.

A good throwback fighter. Hope jojo overcomes his addiction. Rooting for you champ!

It takes a man to expose and open himself up to the public like this. Keep fighting bro you can overcome your setbacks

He should be able to conquer everything and that's the most important thing for his life, for his health and sanity - but as to becoming a champion again, that ship sailed long ago. The advanced aging from what he did to his body and the damage is done.

He already "exposed himself" and "opened himself up" - to an underage girl online.

Very hard to be a top professional boxer as you need to commit to eating healthy, no drugs, drinking, fitness every day even though you may have just 2 fights a year.

Didn't know he was going through these battles. I always wondered why he didn't stay down and take hold of more belts at 126.

Johnny Tapia all over again, minus the belts won, and Teresa on his side.
