You are missing the point. The point is that he didn't have a licensed permit to carry a concealed weapon at all; Not in California or in Alabama. He doesn't need one in Alabama which is a non permit to carry state but he did needed one in California which is.

Hopefully, that gun charge is dropped because Wilder needed a gun under those circumstances. He typically travels with security.

However, he was driving alone this time and could have easily become the target because of his profile. He is worth millions.

He could have been robbed or worse abducted and held for ransom if he didn’t have that gun.
