Weight NOT the reason PBF beat Marquez

I'm one of those that waited for the replay on hbo to see the fight. So i watched it last night and recorded it in case i want to see it again, which i probably will. My thoughts;
I thought Floyd fought very well, and was in great shape. He has always been a master at defence, so i kinda rule out a couple lb's making such a big difference in his performance.
On JMM side of it, i thought he didn't fare as well. he looked sluggish, unsure of himself, and maybe intimidated as the fight went on and Juan saw how well Floyd can still fight. I think if there is a weight issue, it would be that JMM put on too much weight. He sure didn't look like the JMM that fought Manny.
That being said, Floyd won back some of my respect by showing his skills are still there, but i also think he needs to grow up. He's like a kid sometimes. He couldn't handle the fortune and fame that came with his accomplishments, and it went to his head, giving him an attitude, and made him greedy.
But he needs to earn some more of my respect by fighting guys like Moslely, Clottey, Cotto, Pac...etc. I don't know if this will help him grow up, but it might humble him if he has to fight someone he's not sure he can beat. He was way too confident in there. He knew he could win that fight and he was right, it was nothing more than a tune-up. He won all but one round, according to the judges.
But JM just didn't look like the warrior of old that fought Pac. I don't know why he didn't do better. I was pretty sure that Floyd was going to win before i learned here he won, but i didn't expect him to do as well as he did. He's still got it. But will "it" work against real WW's? I have to wait and see what his next moves are to see. Can't wait. It's good to have him back.
But i want him to face all those he's been accused of avoiding. I want him to take real chances. I want him to legitimately put that precious "0" on the line against someone who has a real chance at beating him. I want him to prove he's the best as he says he is.
Otherwise, in my eyes, he's still just a kid that has great skills and potential, and for the most part, earned his "0', but refuses to take any chances of losing a fight and lose his undefeated rep. So before i pass judgement on him, more fights need to be made with real competition. No disrespect to JMM, cause i have always liked him and thought he is a great fighter in his wieght class.
So while i was mildly impressed (not surprised) with Floyd's performance, i felt kinda bad for JM, and was left wondering why he didn't do better. Maybe he just doesn't do very well out of his weight class, i don't know.
The heavywieght fight that followed, ending up with the out of shape challenger, (and he even admits he doesn't give his all to get in the best of shape) loses and starts crying at the end...wtf? Next time get in shape ya fat ****, and quit your cryin'...big baby.Last edited by jazluvr; 09-27-2009, 12:46 PM.

would marquez last 12 rounds against:
1- mosley
2- williams
3- cotto
4- margarito
would he?
EDIT: of course floyd looked better in all areas, he was fighting at his current natural weight class. would he look as good if he fought 18 pounds north of WW?Last edited by fdotorres; 09-27-2009, 12:55 PM.
