Whoa whoa whoa. Slow down there buddy. Lol

I am not joking. He beat Smith, Jacobs and Parker. That's more than enough to be #2. #3 at worst if you wanna despise him because of his British origin.

Also, he is #2 on Boxrec.

It’s all been based on managing risk because for almost nearly a decade, he rarely picks an opponent coming off an impressive win. He picks opponents after they show some vulnerability and that included Bivol who wasn’t perceived to be a boogie man when Canelo picked him because he was coming off 2 underwhelming performances. Canelo didn’t anticipate that Bivol would provide the challenge that he did. He’s not the only one guilty of doing this at all, but he definitely manages risk when selecting his opposition and this wouldn’t be any exception imo
I agree with this completely! I will also be very surprised if he fight Bivol again. If he does, it won't be anytime soon. If he was actually as great as he wants people to believe, he would have went after the immediate rematch with Bivol. The true greats don't wait three of four fights before fighting the person they soundly looses to.

What I said is that it's reasonable to have a tuneup fight after surgery. Which it is.

Also, nowhere did I mention that fighting Ryder is chasing greatness. It's just a tuneup...which Canelo is entitled to have once in a while.

But as far as tuneups go he could do a lot worse than choosing a guy who is now the WBO mando.
You should have tge same opinion with Bub going after Avenysan.
Bud needed a stay busy fight.
Errol wasnt in shape to fight this year so same deal.
            Both just tune ups.
Yet you crap on Bud yet justify Canelo.
Plus Avenysan in top 10 and coming off a 6 fight knock out stretch.
Tgey both seem same type off quality opposition.

I don’t think there is a planet where Canelo and Benavidez both exist where Ryder is the second best SMW. Credit to him though. He’s a good fighter and hopefully he gets his shot at the title.

                  Dud isn't coming off surgery.

                  Avanesyan isn't a mando.

Dud has a sh-tty resume. Canelo currently has the best resume in the sport.

Ryder is more proven fighter with better resume and better skills. I am talking with arguments not BS fanboyism. I hope Plant ends that hypejob bandwagon in March.

The funny thing is this tuneup Ryder fight would be considered a good fight for Charlo, Plant, or benavidez. Lmao
