Better yet, explain why I should unequivocally give him full credit just for rematching him. Never said anything about Bivol not being dangerous enough; I've never given him any boogieman status; he's a great fighter who finally got the chance to really showcase his skills this year. You can't deny most people thought Canelo would not only win, but dominate Bivol before their fight. Whether or not you said it will be a "tough" fight, whatever that actually meant at the time, you believed Canelo was virtually unstoppable, as did many. He was a heavy favorite before their fight, so it was clear that hardly anybody viewed Bivol as a boogieman. I don't see why I should give full credit to Canelo if he fights him again. He was completely outclassed so I would imagine he would want to fight him again because it was a huge defeat for his ego. It's human nature to want to avenge yourself and being in the public eye, there's no way someone like Canelo would admit defeat, which is why he's continued to make excuses.

      Ok, cool.

So if Canelo fights Bivol again you will refuse to give him full credit. Basically no matter who Canelo fights you are dead set on finding something to criticize.

Good to know. When you are that emotionally invested in hating on the guy there is no logic that is going to get into your skull and no possible opponent that will ever be good enough.

          The pension fight.

Though I can't see that many Brits turning out for this just to see Canelo stop Ryder. Ryder is a good fighter but would at least a 15/1 underdog. You can't sell 70,000 tix for that
I think Canelo is big enough to fill a stadium over here almost regardless of the opposition. Sort of a once in a lifetime opportunity for boxing fans to see a proper HOF. Hearn would need to spring for a half decent undercard though…

So ****ing emotional. Never said I hated the guy. Plenty of times I've given him credit. Sorry I don't find the need to lick his ass with whatever he does.

But even his "tuneup" will still be a WBO mando. That's a decently high standard in my opinion.

It's not like he doesn't also mix in fights with "boogiemen" like Bivol. His quality of opposition remains better than anyone else in boxing.

A fight isn’t what you use to test your hand out after surgery (which reportedly was only having calluses removed). That’s done during training. I see Canelo’s opponent selection for what it is and it isn’t the chasing greatness approach he likes to pretend it is. It’s all been based on managing risk because for almost nearly a decade, he rarely picks an opponent coming off an impressive win. He picks opponents after they show some vulnerability and that included Bivol who wasn’t perceived to be a boogie man when Canelo picked him because he was coming off 2 underwhelming performances. Canelo didn’t anticipate that Bivol would provide the challenge that he did. He’s not the only one guilty of doing this at all, but he definitely manages risk when selecting his opposition and this wouldn’t be any exception imo

Canelo can fight Ryder 10 times and no one can criticize him you moron. He already made his legacy solidly. He'll go UK, create his PR and fill Emirates full of his fans. He'll still reach one of the best PPV amounts in 2023. Ryder is good opponent. He has a case for being #2 SMW on the planet. You casuals' ignorance doesn't change that.

Who said anything about testing his hand out?

What I said is that it's reasonable to have a tuneup fight after surgery. Which it is.

Also, nowhere did I mention that fighting Ryder is chasing greatness. It's just a tuneup...which Canelo is entitled to have once in a while.

But as far as tuneups go he could do a lot worse than choosing a guy who is now the WBO mando.
