well ok, Ive been on boxingscene long enough to hear the millions of reasons why so many people dislike him...but its just kind of odd that this site is so largely anti Mayweather when all the casual fans really seem to like him.

People who say "they hate Floyd" are crazy. I find it hard to believe you hate someone that you don't know personally. Rather, they hate or dislike the way Floyd portrays himself in the media. While I'm annoyed and dislike his media personality, I don't let that alter my view of him as a fighter, like some do.

No doubting his skills but I doubt his desire to seek the fighters and challenges that hardcore fans want. No mistake about it, Floyd has been selective in opponents but that does not mean that he deserves to be disrespected.

and yes casual fans know that.. they read the news
From the people Ive met, almost everyone really likes Floyd.
maybe its just the nature of the internet for everyone on it to hate and overreact to everything.

To the casual fan, floyd is a recognizable face, and a great boxer. he is "a name". The guy from DWTS, WWE and the AT&T commercial. Even to the hip-hop community, his videos are on WSHH. The casual fan doesn't have the jealousy and hatred of the average NSB poster.
The average sports fan hears about michael vick, pete rose, Plaxico Burress, pacman jones, etc. They don't associate Floyd with that kind of negativity.

To be fair though, Floyd's next choice of opponents will determine how serious he is to regain his throne and status.
