More importantly, Canelo isn’t as skilled as Ward and Hopkins were. Canelo’s height wasn’t an issue against Kovalev, Fielding or Smith and they are all as tall if not taller than Bivol. Bivol didn’t overwhelm Canelo with his size, he outboxed him while exposing canelos low punch output as well as his poor stamina.

While I think Beterbiev has heavyweight power, I think he is a small cruiserweight cutting weight to fight at 175lbs. He is not much that much bigger than Dan Azeez (himself 5ft10) and Beterweigh walks around at less than 190lbs fully hydrated. Many cruiserweights walk into the ring at 210lbs or so (like Usyk used to).

Still, he is naturally bigger, stronger and more powerful than Bivol and that alone would give him a big natural edge. They both have high levels of ring IQ too so IMO, it's all about who can gather momentum the quickest in such a fight.

Too bad that Bob Arum has said Bivol is boring and has no pizzazz and that Beterbiev is not fighting on Dead Zone.

Kovalev had already been through the wars! Fielding just sucks! The win over Smith was solid! I can't remember a 5' 8" Light Heavyweight Champion! Even Roy Jones Jr. was 5'11". Canelo is way too small for 175!

what you did here was prove my point. Canelo faced less skilled and worn down fighters and that’s what made the difference in their fights, not height. Now when he loses to a more skilled opponent, the reason isn’t skill but height? Fighters across all different weight classes have overcome bigger height disparities than what canelo faced vs bivol. Tyson was a hw champion at 5’’10. Cotto was a mw champ at 5’7 and a much smaller frame than canelo, Pac was a jmw champ at 5’5. Bivol wasn’t moving around the ring and using a long jab all night like hearns could do or leaning on canelo wearing him down like fury does at hw. He out skilled him. Their weight was the same or if anything , canelo weighed more in the ring.

I'm not making an excuse, I'm just stating facts! Canelo is too small for 175! Not too many folks can go from WW to LHW, at an elite level! RJJ, and B-Hop were never WWs! I don't believe they were ever at 154 either. Even going from 160-175 is a very tough thing to do!

“He’s too small for lhw” is an excuse… also, he the fighter himself doesn’t agree with you.

I hope Zurdo beats the Russian Moe but I don't think anyone beats Beterbiev.
