Comments Thread For: Devin Haney Outboxes George Kambosos To Become Undisputed at Lightweight

By Jake Donovan - Devin Haney dared to be great and proved to be even better. The 23-year-old Las Vegas-based champ traveled to the other side of the world to fully unify the lightweight division. Haney delivered a masterclass performance in a twelve-round, unanimous decision win over George Kambosos Jr. Matching scores of 116-112 by judges Zoltan Enyedi and Benoit Roussel were far too close, while Pawel Kardyni had it 118-110 for the unbeaten American in their ESPN-televised main event Saturday evening (Sunday afternoon local time) in front of packed crowd of 41,129 at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

Most of the trash talk is over. It is nearly time. WBO/IBF/WBA lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr. (20-0, 10 KOs) and WBC champion Devin Haney (27-0, 15 KOs) are two days away from their showdown for the undisputed title at Marvel Stadium. The fight, Sunday local time and airing Saturday evening in the United States, is one of the biggest bouts ever on Australian soil. (photos by Darren Burns)

More than 40,000 fans are expected, as the 23-year-old Haney attempts to make history more than 8,000 miles from home. Kambosos, from Sydney, Australia, is back home and attempting to score his second straight upset following last November's title-winning thriller over Teofimo Lopez.

Looking forward to this one think it will be a war , Kambosos seems very hungry like he has not gotten the proper respect after beating Teo and has something to prove .Haney fighting on foreign soil all the sheeit with his pops .I think Devin is going to really bring it this fight and go for a stoppage , think he knows it cannot go to the judges ..

      WAR Devin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why does ESPN show that it's 9pm Saturday on their schedule, when it's 1130pm Sunday?

Kambosa is a piece of crap... Using the word "Snitch" when he has no clue... Haney was perfectly within his rights to help set up Lopez, part of the game... Kambosa talks crap. I really hope Devin teaches him how a real G carries. War Haney!

Hugging Haney might find out that fighting washed up bums like Gamboa and Linares won't properly prepare him. He's also only used to tiny quiet arenas since noone watches him fight. The odds could be against him.

I'm rooting for Devin Haney, more for the fact that he talked about not recognizing the WBC 'Franchise' title. As upon its inception by the World Council, degraded Haney as THE WBC lightweight champion of the world, but more importantly debased and fragmented the history and legacy of the WBC lightweight championship.

My support for Devin going forward depends on this. Shout-Out to Naoya Inoue for rejecting the WBC 'Diamond' belt.
