I really don't think Canelo cherry picked Bivol.... nor do I think this is going to be an easy fight for Nelo, possibly be even his second OFFICIAL loss. I really think It simply comes down to Money, and Canelo knows he will make BANK for fighting two people he knows.... and one of whom he fought twice.
For Bivol, this is a career defining moment, much more so than Kovalev. Kovalev already had his career and simply sold his belt (admitted it as much on a live stream) by taking the fight and "doing what I had to do to provide for my family."
For Bivol, if he beats Canelo.... he instantly becomes a household name, at least in Mexican fans eyes. I also don't think Bivol is naive enough to try and win this on the score cards, he knows he can't (even if he does). The gameplan is already there and laid out to him by Kovalev and GGG. Survive the first 3 rounds by jab jab jab jab jab..... and then as Nelo's tank goes down, start applying pressure to him. Bivol has a pretty good chin and has pacified Joe Smith Jr.... I think he will be able to deal with Canelo just fine.
Style wise, Bivol certainly has the fundamentals down, but he is also not a traditional "Euro-Bum".... and borrows a lot from mayweather style as well. In Bivol's interviews he even mentioned Sugar Ray was his idol and he started boxing in his style. VERY VERY VERY different from Gvozdyk who fights quite stiff. Most of all, Bivol can consistently use his distance, and more and more, he knows how to close out a fight.
My prediction, Bivol either stops Canelo late, or Bivol wins the rounds, BUT Canelo wins on the cards.

They always stand off, as if he is Mike Tyson.
Alvarez should not really have the power to be stopping Bivol in his tracks.
I don't think Alvarez is a monster puncher, not in the way people try and make out.
If Bivol cannot establish his jab, and dominate from there? He just needs to put it on him, big time.
If he gets hit in the process, so what. Give it a go.

I totally disagree with OP and whoever else is saying the same thing. I think Canelo wins the third fight but it'll be another tough points decision. People are blinded by the Saunders, Plant and Smith fights - neither of these are GGG and only one of them came to fight with belief and that was Saunders....until he got caught. Both Smith and Plant had lost the fight before the first bell. GGG isn't intimidated by Canelo and truly believes he can beat him, he's not just there for a payday like the others I've mentioned.

Im not sure, there's no clause or CW here so bivol has good chance. If nelo wins a great win and you wonder why he used clauses against kovalev? Just dipping his toes I guess like PAC with cotto. That win gave nelo confidence but how many clauses has nelo had since then?Last edited by hugh grant; 04-13-2022, 07:32 AM.

The only way Bivol wins is if he can keep Canelo off of him. He has vastly improved since the Floyd loss and now positions the fighter where he wants him even if he has to loose a few rounds.
