Yes, Keith, the business of boxing has changed over the decades.

But consider Duran-Leonard I, Hagler-Hearns, and then Thurman-Barrios. Which fights are unequivocably PPV events?

Hint: no fight that does not include the Fab4.

The problem with the entire card is that it's a card full of tune ups.
        • Keith Thurman vs. Mario Barrios, 12 rounds, welterweight
        • Leo Santa Cruz vs. Keenan Carbajal, 12 rounds, featherweights
        • Luis Nery vs. Carlos Castro, 10 rounds, junior featherweights
        • Kent Cruz vs. Enriko Gogokhia, 8 rounds, junior welterweights
        • Fernando Vargas vs. Kody Koboski, 4 rounds, middleweights
        • Abel Ramos vs. Lucas Santamaria, 10 rounds, welterweights
Keith has 2 years of inactivity and needs to work off the rust and Mario seems like the safe bet that he'll give Keith work but not be so dangerous as to knock Keith out. Leo and Luis are fighting guys who are regional belt holders. Vargas is still a prospect and they're building him up. I have no idea who Cruz and Enriko are and Abel vs Lucas feels like a typical undercard filler fight between two workhorses.

I definitely agree with you for the most part,.
But I must say the Fury-Wilder 3 card - both the main event and undercard fights - was well worth the PPV cost.

If its a real issue they can stipulate negative test before coming over
Tests have about a 45% false result, sometimes much more. Reports show that people tested negative before boarding planes have tested positive after landing and went straight into quarantine.

I'm afraid that Omicron has proven to be worse than just a dose of flu. I keep well informed as to the progress of COVID, as I am not at all young, and not vaccinated. I'm waiting for a Vaccine called Novavax which is based on tried and true principles, safe with no later side effects, and not dangerous like the mRNA Vaccines. My son caught it, got over it with booze and Tylenol, then foolishly a few months later got a booster. 3 months later he began to have chest pains. It was pericarditis. He was in his late 30s and healthy. He's O.K. now T.G.. but it shows us something.........

Omicron is airborne, and believe me, if a guy carries it into a room, it will detach and float around and be inhaled by someone else. News reports from several places, Israel particularly have proven that It is now attacking young kids, already vaccinated months ago, are returning to hospital wards with lung and heart ailments. Learned professors and scientists there say that Omicron is much more dangerous than we originally believed, that it is and has mutated.

The point I was trying to make was that I don't blame him for trying to boost sales for the fight, but that his comment about gathering his friends was the exact opposite of what he'd been saying about crowds deserting the arenas because of the fear of COVID.

Everyone has the free choice of buying the PPV or not. For me, It's not worth it, by a large margin. Even $ 40, as in the Ortiz-Martin fight would be a scam. As someone posted, the best 2 undercard fighters are coming off losses and their opponents are pretty poor, one having been KOd in 4 of his last 5. Yet, fighters have to fight to make a living. Although I think that a guy like him when at the top, must have raked in millions from endorsements and appearances etc. He still should have most of it.

A smart talking guy like him must have heard of "investments", and "saving for a rainy day"... If he hasn't.......well......???

It's really wild that they couldn't get Showtime to pick this fight up or something. The fights that make it to regular TV FOX are terrible, why not put something like this on TV instead?

Showtimes budget took major blows with having to cover Wilder and Canelos purses recently so the funds aren't there to pay the A and B level fighters any longer. It's "we can only gaurantee you this or take your chances on ppv". FOX for damn sure didn't expect ppv slots of this caliber when they came into partnership with PBC and if they did, whomevers running that department needs to have been **** canned yesterday.

                    Exactly.
Seems kinda insincere for them to hype up Ramos vs Lopez when Josesito pulled out a couple weeks ago.
He's been replaced by Lucas Santamayor who upset Devon Alexander a couple fights back.
Not a bad replacement. But sti using Josesitos name knowing he ain't fighting is shady.

Sure but like, we had Magsayo vs Russell on Showtime pretty recently. That's probably a smaller fight pay wise but you'd think they could find a slot for a Keith tune-up.

I guess that depends on his guarantee? But like lol how much do they even expect to make on this ppv.
