Comments Thread For: Charles Martin: Ortiz Is A Big, Strong, Dangerous Man; I Have To Come With My 'A' Game

By Keith Idec - Training smarter for his upcoming crossroads fight with Luis Ortiz has enabled Charles Martin to convert the "flab" he once had around his midsection into muscle. The hard-hitting, 6-feet-5 southpaw expects to weigh about the same as usual, 250 pounds, for their potentially career-changing fight January 1.

Someone, anyone please explain to me how this rates as a pay-per-view fight? Thirty years ago it might have aired on Thursday Night Fights on the USA Network with Sean "Bubblegum Kid" O'Grady doing the color commentary.

Martin should cut his freakin' hair! Those dreds just weigh him down and hold in body heat.

Charles Martin has the better chance, Ortiz is too old, older than Povetkin who retired in 2021.

Alotta fans sleeping on Martin. I like both fighters, but Martin has improved a good bit in recent years. I give him a good chance to stop Ortiz.
Even if there will be solid back and forth action for some rounds.

I still have Ortiz winning, but Martin looks good. Now, plenty boxers with sculpted abs get beat down by much worse looking boxers. But I respect the effort Martin has put in.

I agree! Martin should pull the upset! I'll say for Ortiz, what I said about Pacquiao...you can be older, and you can be inactive, but you can't be both!

Ortiz 42? well black ain't supposed to crack so he's at least 55.

Martin training? Or is this Ruiz for Aj 2 doctored photo's training? I'll believe it when I see it.

With this much on the line this could be a stinker both to tentative to engage & Ortiz getting the decision in a boring contest.
For Martin this is step up time.
