At 34, he is too old for stepping stones. He should be at the tail end of his career, with wins over elites. A lot of boxers at the age of 34, already have the best wins they are ever going to get in their career. And it is downhill from there.

“I’ve been calling for these top welterweights since I came in the division,” notes Crawford, who has been out of the ring since a fourth-round stoppage of Brook last November. “There was nothing really I could do. We just had to bide our time, be patient.“

And he should have known this. Did he not see Mayweather’s career under TR? Pacquiao’s career? Cotto’s career? All 3 left TR for bigger and better fights, that Arum was depriving them from. More money vs top names. Arum refused to make Mayweather-DLH. Pacquiao could not fight fighters outside of TR. Cotto couldn’t either. Crawford signed with TR while seeing that the top names of boxing couldn’t even get the best fights and biggest purses until after leaving TR.

Mayweather under Arum, called out DLH, Mosley, Tszyu, Gatti, and Hatton. Hatton beat up Tszyu, Arum gave Gatti the Mayweather fight, and lastly DLH/Mosley turned Mayweather down because GBP did not do business with Arum.

To add to that, Arum told Mayweather that his asking price of $20mill for DLH is too much. But then Arum turns around, during a lawsuit from Mayweather, and offers him more money for Margarito than he was offering for Cotto and Hatton. Even though Margarito was not as popular as Cotto or Hatton. Of course it was just BS by Arum. A smear campaign. And then Mayweather made $30 mill for DLH, despite Arum saying he was not worth $20mill.

Arum even made an old Mosley agree to his demand of wanting options on Mosley, to fight Pacquiao.

    So that’s on Crawford.

He chased a Pacquiao fight and signed with Top Rank twice just for the chance to get Pacquiao. He was blind and dumb, he saw that PBC has a ton of 147-154 fighters. He knew Pacquiao was old and on the decline and wanted that easy payday.

This will be Porter’s last fight, he’s made several million has a gig with the networks and is going to give it his all in hopes of another big payday and opportunity but after this he’ll only be known as a gatekeeper so why bother to stay fighting.

I don’t disagree with your assessment one bit, but when you have a poor kid not an educated one trying to overcome poverty, all that **** Bob saying sounds good! Dam the examples people have all types of examples in life hood and bad but as an adult you typically make the one that you think is best for you; not necessarily the best option. Crawford a good dude with loads of talent and a mean streak inside of him and he’s got to live with all his decisions so there’s no need for people to continue say what he could or should have done, he’ll be okay.

There won’t be any validation through this fight. We still won’t know who the real world champion in the welterweight division is until Spence and Crawford stop hiding behind their managers and fight each other. Neither one of the two have any business fighting anyone else after this long. Zoom out somebody.

Canelo fought in 175 pounds, being a 154, why Crawford did not fight vs Charlo or Castaño in 152?

This guy has the worst resume in top-10 list P4P

Showtime ain’t laying down for no kunt, he’s fackin tough as nails.
shawn porter wins this and if not, gives Crawford the toughest test at the very least.
im expecting Shawn to run at him for the duration, give him no time to compose or think.

Teixeira was a guaranteed title shot for Crawford - the WBO 154.

Crawford refused it trying to chase old Manny.

                He chases paydays.

He's a prizefighter...but he gets no respect unless he cleanly (A) knocks out, (B) Stops (not by a trigger ref) or (C) decisions a threat. And Porter is a threat that has never been knocked out, stopped or cleanly decisioned. SO it's a huge test. And I said it before, if he struggles with Porter, he's not nor has ever been #1 or even #5 P4P.

A close win against an élite is a very good thing to Crawford

With all his talents, seem like the guy will only fight a good boxer when it is imposed on him as in mandatory. Guy was not trying to fight Porter, that was smokescreen. That said I think he beats Porter easy. Porter is tailor made for a counter puncher like Crawford. I might even as far as saying a stoppage, corner or referee stoppage.
