How is Pacquiao a 4 weight class lineal champ?

first off, it doesnt matter, because even 'lineal' champions can be really decieving. for example, Zsolt Erdie should be the lineal champ. yea. which is a joke.
It matters who you beat and how you beat them more than anything else, and not just silly stats.

anyways so I hear this stat of his thrown around a lot...4 weight class 'lineal' champion. but hes not.
Hes the lineal champ at 140lbs when he beat Hatton
Hes the lineal champ at 130lbs when he beat Marquez, making a new lineal champ
Hes the lineal champ at Featherweight after beating Marco Antonio Barrera

and...thats it. so whats the deal?

I'm not positive, but I think it's when he won the lineal title at flyweight.

To be fair, you are right about Erdie. But if it's easy, how come nobody has ever done it.

You forgot, Sasakul was a lineal champ.

these are the rankings after Pacquiao was KOed. no one is still the lineal champ, and the guy that beat Pacquiao is not even in the rankings.

Sasakul would have to have beaten Mark Johnson after his win over Yuri Arbachakov to have become the lineal champ.

And he was alpha and lineal champ at flyweight after beating Chatchai Sasakul.

Lineal Championship- In professional boxing, the lineal championship of a weight class is a notional world championship title. It is initially held at some moment in time by a boxer universally acclaimed as the best in the class. Another boxer can only win the lineal championship by defeating the reigning lineal champion in the ring. The lineal champion is described as "the man who beat the man".[1][2]

The concept was developed by boxing fans dissatisfied by the tendency of each of the various sanctioning bodies (WBC, WBA, IBF, etc.) to recognize different champions, and in particular to strip a champion of his title for refusing to fight its top-ranked contender. Prior to the 1970s, this rarely happened; the National Boxing Association (NBA) and the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) sometimes recognised different champions, but there was usually only a short interval before one champion defeated the other. The "lineal championship" is intended as a return to that era. Several top boxers have specified holding the lineal championship as a personal accomplishment (e.g. Lennox Lewis,[3]) or goal (e.g. Nate Campbell[1]).

An issue in the implementation of a "lineal championship" is what to do if the lineal champion retires, or dies, or moves to a different weight class. Different ways of resolving this vacancy mean the "lineal championship" may itself be subject to dispute. In the NBA/NYSAC era, a title vacancy was generally filled by having a box-off between 2, 4, or even more top-ranked contenders. Since the modern lineal championship is merely a notional title tracked by fans, there is no money or organization to arrange such box-offs, and there may not be consensus on who the top contenders are.[2]

The Ring, boxing's most respected magazine, has its own version of the lineal championship. In 2007, The Ring was acquired by the owners of fight promoter Golden Boy Promotions,[4] which has publicized the Ring's world championship when this is at stake in fights it promotes, such as Joe Calzaghe vs. Roy Jones, Jr. in 2008.[5]

I get what you're saying, but aren't these The Ring rankings? I'm bringing this up because even their champs aren't always the lineal champs, like Erdei.

I dont understand. so people go by the ring's champion status for his other accolades, but we just assume that hes the lineal at Flyweight despite the fact that Yuri(and therefore Sasakul and Pacquiao) was not an undisputed champion?

sounds kind of ****** to me.

Were you looking at The Ring rankings? The Ring actually defaulted on issuing The Ring title for almost a decade, yet the lineage of champions (lineal champions) still existed. Secondly, one cannot be ranked as no.1 contender by the Ring if you are the champ. Rankings are only for challengers, or if they are fighting for a vacant lineal or Ring title.
