Hopefully now that she's going to fight more in the UK, she'll receive some of the recognition she deserves; seems like female sports as a whole have more of a financial backing than they do here.
British women are tougher than American women and boxing is a originally British sport. It’s always going to be PROPORTIONALLY bigger in the U.K. than the USA.

People like Nunes, Valentina, Rose, PVZ, Cyborg arent on her level but they are much bigger stars than Claressa, Katie Taylor etc.

Ronda was not spoon fed opponents either, thats total BS. Holm had been in the UFC for 9 months and had had 2 fights there when she got to fight Ronda for ****s sake, its not like she was kept away. And Nunes could have fought Ronda much earlier if she hadnt lost to Zingano, who got the title shot vs Ronda instead as a result and lost.
Holm was a boxer and knew how to fight regardless of her UFC experience, but you answered my spoon feed comment yourself, Holm had 2 fights in the UFC platform and got Ronda, now why in the hell would someone who hasn't really proven herself get such a high profile fight? Because White and the Rousey camp thought this would be another easy fight, little did they know Holm can actually box and the rest is history. Now let's talk about the other's, besides Cyborg, and Nunes, all those other fighters you speak off might be good but not known, which brings me to the point of being good looking, Cyborg, in my opinion was probably the best overall, talented, actual killer from all the MMA women fighters, but why wasn't she as popular as Rousey? It's all about the looks. I'll give you a little history lesson, Laila Ali is probably the most popular female boxer, of course her name didn't hurt, but she wasn't hard to look at either, around the same time, there was another female fighter by the name of Ann Wolfe who was an absolute killer and Laila avoided like the plague, because if they would of fought, Wolfe would of demolished her, Wolfe was way better but never got the recognition Ali got because, and I'm not trying to be a jerk, but her looks wasn't there, point is especially in women combat, unfortunately looks matter, and Rousey and the UFC took advantage of that, I don't blame them but to call Rousey the best, no way, no how.

I like Shields as a fighter, but she doesn't fight enough to complain about pay. She has 11 fights in 5 years. Champion or not, she hasn't fought on free tv enough for the people see and want to see her more. if she wants to blame anyone, then look in the mirror.

I think it's largely due to the huge disparity in talent in female boxing. It's just not as competitive as MMA, where the top ten contenders are equally talented and capable of producing an upset.

Shields is expected to maintain both her MMA and boxing careers simultaneously. Not if she gets popped for the juice! Look at the size of this chick!

She's not juicing, she's just a big female like Laila Ali. If Shields is juicing, she needs to get her money back because she has little to no punching power whatsoever. Plus she's not cut enough..

No its because the talent pool is shallow and Ronda had practically cleared out the division. Of course Ronda was the favourite, why wouldnt she be when she'd been that dominant until then? and how the **** would they be unaware that a former world champion boxer could box? lol what?

I dont even like Ronda, shes obnoxious as ****. But she fought what were widely considered to be the best challengers at the time. There was no obvious bogeywoman out there for her other than Cyborg, who wasnt in the same promotion or weight class. Holm was just another challenger on paper and like I said before Nunes was one fight off a title shot, but lost, and Ronda fought the girl that beat her.

you're failing to point out that there was only 1 weight class in UFC for the longest. Then Dana White finally brought in another one, which was Strawweight at 115(20 lbs under Rousey's class). Rousey was a protected fighter with limited skill fighting others with limited skill and brought along perfectly. As I've stated in another thread, people like knockouts and stoppages. No matter how inferior competition is, people want to be entertained with knockouts. That's why Wilder is so famous and we all know he's the hw version of Ricardo Mayorga. If you want the fame, you've got to have the knockouts. Even if it's against people you're pulling off the street, at least knock them out often. Shields doesn't do that.

Thats because WMMA in the UFC was only introduced to capitalize on Rondas popularity in the first place, most fans were resistant to the concept of WMMA on UFC cards so it was eased in gradually. It just highlights how she wasnt protected at all when you consider them not bringing in another weight class for her to fight in to be them protecting her, since she was facing everyone in her own weight class and winning. Its like when people call Conor protected even though he had been in there with a bunch of serious names from very early in his UFC career. Brock was thrown in the shark tank pretty much immediately too and hes another of their biggest stars. Adesanya is one of the biggest recent stars and in the space of like 2 years hes cleared out his division and gone up a weight class to face the champion right off the bat. The UFC does not protect fighters.

In 4oz gloves and in that environment shes probably one of the biggest punchers tbf. I dont particularly care for her either way though.
